D-Wade supporting Steve Novak yesterday

Written by: noreply@blogger.com (muwarrior92)

Yesterday was the 10 year celebration of the 2003 Final Four team.  Video tributes from Tom Crean and Steve Novak were posted online in advance of the celebration.  MU went out and buried #16 Pittsburgh in the process.

Not to be outdone the weekend NBA All Star game festivities had a Marquette flair from members of that 2003 Final Four team.  Steve Novak participated in the 3 point shooting contest and got some Marquette love from his MU teammate, Dwyane Wade in the process.

Wish this would have made the TV broadcast, but Novak was too busy shitting the bed.

One make from the final is not crapping the bed (which is the most overused phrase on this board).  He made 8 of the first 10 and went cold ... making just 3 of the final 15.

And if you want to have an excuse to use crapping the bed ... Paul George with 10 points crapped the bed.

Novak not making the final is crapping the bed. He was 3/1 odds, behind only Seth Curry at 2/1.

Irving winning was a huge upset. I don't need an excuse to use it as Steve did crap the bed.

One thing that struck me was the way Reggie Miller and the crew mentioned Marquette.  No mention (that I heard of) that Novak played for "Tom Crean's Marquette team."  Instead it was just Marquette.  The school's name stood without qualification or explanation.  In fact that only qualification was he played with Wade and then they showed Wade holding Novak's Marquette jersey.

In other words, MU is a basketball program that can stand alone on its name.  No qualifiers (like I often hear in Chicago when they say Derek Rose played for "John Calpari's Memphis team).

Marquette means basketball and basketball fans understand that.  Not bad for a school full of mid-majors.
