Title: Bracketology 2/15
Post by: marquette09 on February 15, 2013, 11:03:03 AM
Lunardi has MU up to a 4.   Interesting that after the loss on Monday MU moved up from 5 to 4.   Maybe we should lose to Pitt and move up to a 3?

In all seriousness, I know this is just Lunardi's bracket but it shows how weak college basketball is this year.   If MU can take care if business at home the rest if the way we could, surprisingly, get a pretty good seed.

MU a #4? :o You're absolutely right about how weak college hoops is this year. I have seen a lot of awful, sloppy games....borderline unwatchable. We joke about UW not being able to reach 50 points...but that could apply to a lot of teams (including MU on some nights).

A lot of people value Pitt very, very highly.  Pomeroy followers and efficiency statheads, mostly.  Anyway, my point is if we sweep Pitt, it would garner a lot of attention and respect, and I think that the 4 seed would be about right pending future results.

Worth noting that Buzz is on the ESPN home page for College basketball to introduce bracketology.

We're just at the point in the season where RPI is becoming exponentially more relevant by the day... given the focus the committee has given to RPI over the past two years, it's not a wonder that bracketologists are going to start putting the #16-RPI team in the preference seeds.

Especially in a year where nobody wants to hang on to #1-AP, unranked teams are confidently beating top-10 teams, and Miami (FL) is the only undefeated major in conference play... you better believe the committee is going to be more focused on computer rankings this year than ever before.  Good for MU... the schedule only gets tougher from here, so take care of business at home and don't lay any eggs on the road, and MU likely ends up with #3, or even - dare I say - a #2, seed.

Stop it. We haven't had a quality in over a month and have come up empty on the last three attempts. We're tourney bound, but that's just crazy talk.

Win out and there's no way we're below a 2 seed.  Pomeroy gives it about a 2% chance of happening, but there's still a chance!  (7% chance to head into the BEast tourney with only 1 more loss... crazier things have happened...)

What happens over the next month is much more important than what happened over the past month.

No question.
