Title: Last song over PA system this afternoon?
Post by: Jim Sawdust on February 09, 2013, 07:55:37 PM
I'd like to hear again the song that played overhead just as the game wound down. I can't whistle it, but can offer a clue of it sounding like call-and-response or Reggae.

Little story: a friend who sits a row above the bride and me was a few minutes late to sit, having run into one of the cheerleaders she coached as Coordinator in the 1970s. Their old home moment prompted several stories about Al, one of which was about his checking the upper corners, figuring his job was done if those seats were sold. I shared how, the day after Al died, I trooped our adolescents to the four high corners in his honor. We did three easily before Bradley Center staffers started yelling and waving us away from the fourth. We tagged the wall and ambled back to our own seats to watch the team dispatch Tulane 82-57.

Those were the seats where the children surprised us years before, leaning over the rail to chant B-S, B-S along with the students. We said fun's fun, but cautioned them against using it at school. They both got to voice it in their later time in the student section.

Al never coached at the BC. His remarks referenced the Arena where each of the corners had 4 seats alone in a row.

I knew the guy who had one of those seats. Great guy, crazy red head from Bayonne. He was the lead for the "Give 'em hell, Al!" cry towards the end of the National Anthem. He considered it a great honor.

kryza: dziękuję - Thanks for the song ID. I looked away from the overtime in South Bend to check back here. I can't recall when we've so eagerly (if momentarily) cheered on the Cardinals.
