Title: C7 and Temple
Post by: MUDrag on February 09, 2013, 12:02:27 PM
Watching the Temple vs. Dayton game.  I know Temple is not a candidate as they have a D1 football team.  Can't help but wonder if Temple had dropped football a while back the basketball program would be much better off today.  Without football, they would be a great addition to the C7 conference.  This is a perfect example of a small private school that is limited to mid major status as a result of football.

I really hope Dayton is not added.  They are a good midmajor program that would lower the status of the C7 conference.

Speaking to the game itself, this is one of the weirdest finishes I've seen in awhile.

I agree.  The refs should be fired.

Temple came back from about 10 down with just a couple minutes to play, then down 2, hit a 3 with about 7 seconds on the clock.  Dayton draws up a play, loses it at half and knocks the lose ball out with 2.3.  When Temple inbounds it, the refs call a foul after a second even though nobody even touches the guy.  He is running free and Dayton is reaching for him, but not touching him and they blow the whistle.
Anyway, with. 1.3, the guy goes to the line and misses BOTH.  Timeout Dayton.  Looks like it's going to the a full court heave time... but no, the ref calls a foul 80 FEET FROM THE BALL before inbounds and it wasn't all that blatant.
Dayton at the line with a chance to win, and he misses BOTH.
Temple rebound and immediate foul. 1.0 on the clock now. Temple misses the first, and tries to miss the second on purpose but completely misses the rim.
Luckily the madness ended there as the inbound pass was deflected and the game ended.

Wow, that is pretty ridiculous.  Thanks.
