Title: Bryce Webster
Post by: Canned Goods n Ammo on August 17, 2007, 04:47:59 PM
He just got released from UofM.

Does anybody know the real story and/or if MU would be interested in taking him as a transfer?

I don't think we have a Scholly for him this year, but we might have for him next year.

Obviously the kid is big and athletic... is he worth taking a chance on?

What are the circumstances behind his release? Is he losing any eligibility? Any info behind this would be appreciated.

Supposedly, he's lost the desire to play basketball and wants to focus on academics, though if you buy into the rumors, he never really had much desire to play the game to begin with.

Those who have watched him a lot say that he is one of those guys that played the game not because he loved it but because he was built for it/pressured into it.  It was never his desire to be a great player he just happened to have the gifts to do so.

TM ate him up in a head to head match up.  Let BW focus on academics, it is best for everyone.  Being big doesn't equal being good (can you say Tom Copa?)

Copa, and I'm not his biggest fan, but he did spend a year with the San Antonio Spurs which is one year more than any power player MU has had in many seasons.

I thought Copa was a decent sized big in the 80's. We could use another Copa next season.

I remember reading about the 2 of them playing against each other in high school... but I don't remember either player really taking it to the other (I could be wrong).

Anyways, I was just wondering. Obviously the kid had/has some talent and size and sometimes a change of scenery is all a player/person needs to get back on the right track. Hopefully everything works out for him.
