$389 a night is a discount? Looks nice however. Is this where the team is staying?

Subtitle of that article is:
QuoteMU fans can stay at official team hotel
So I'm guessing yes. Last year they were at The Roosevelt, not sure why they moved. I suggest going the internet route, it was vastly cheaper last year and I still ended up at The Roosevelt.
My wife and I are staying at the Element. http://www.starwoodhotels.com/element/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=3361&language=en-US Glad I booked this with my SPG points back a few months, the prices have gone up quite a bit.
The Element is the same company as the Westin, as it's a Starwood Group hotel. Slightly closer to MSG, but not quite as nice as the Times Square Westin. Haven't stayed their yet myself but have many colleagues say its a nice enough place near both MSG and Times Square. For those of you who stay at the Westin, it's a pretty nice hotel but really is in the heart of Times Square so the crowds are crazy and everything within a couple blocks is tourist focused.
Roosevelt is an older hotel with very tiny rooms. Westin is nicer but in the middle of the Times Square chaos (though some may like that!)
Yes - $389 for the Westin is a deal in NYC during this time of year (I'm there most weeks for work).
Agree on the internet approach. Do a little research and you can always find deals. If you are willing to have a bit of a commute, could stay further downtown like in Battery Park - Marriott down there is curently going for $219/night.
Happy hunting
My dad and I are going to the tourney in NYC for the first time this year (because of it's the last real Big East tourney). He is extremely frugal - especially in the area of hotels. I'm trying to come up with a compromise that will work for us and not require staying absurdly far from MSG. Anyone have any recommendations for me (besides just using the internet)? Help much appreciated.

You could ride the subway all night long....
Thanks guys. I'll probably just look for a deal at the Westin. Stayed at the Roosevelt last year and enjoyed that.
Couple of sleepin' bags in a corner of Penn Station could be the tits.

Stay over in Jersey, and take the PATH in (PATH is open I think after Sandy)
You are correct - PATH just reopened about a month ago.
