Can't believe this hasn't been posted yet, but Deonte Burton was named a McDonalds All American. Duane Wilson and trey J were both finalists as well
You do realize that there are about 100 finalists right?
Dude, too much weedage? He has been nominated. Winners announced Feb 14. Game is in April. I like to start the day with an eye opener too but try to keep it at a hit or three of BC Bud.
As mentioned, final rosters won't be announced until Feb 14. Johnson probably has the best shot, though it's still an outside shot.

Who was our last? I think it was during the Trotter, Johnson & Johnson era. That's a long time, man.

Trotter. It was the jumbotron quiz at the SH game.
They were nominated along with some others in Wisconsin

You MAY be a winner.
I feel like we go through this every year. Being nominated is not a big deal in the least. All it takes to be nominated is someone (almost positive it can be ANYONE) fills out a piece of paper and presto - you're a McD's nominee! Pretty sure there was a year recently where 37 nominees came from the state of Iowa. That's all you need to know about the title of "McDonald's All-American nominee."
Looney and Stone are the next 2 cheeseheads who have a shot of playin' in the game. Probably depends on where they matriculate.

And Doc was first. So we have 2.
Lloyd was in Trotter's class (and mine) and a Street & Smith's 3rd team all american, while Trotter was S&S 6th team. But the Clown got it right by naming Trotter to the McD's team while leaving off Lloyd. Think about how thrilled we would be today to have one McD AA plus one higher rated player who was not a McD AA. And another (underperfoming) McD AA later played with Trotter (Lloyd was already gone) when Walter Downing transferred from DePaul.

Thanks for the link. Brought back some good/not so good memories of the 80s. Was a freshman when Lloyd, Paul Newman,Vic Lazeretti, Kerry Trotter hit campus. Interesting times. Glad I got to see Doc play in his final year - he was amazing.
I thought Trotter was the one and only.

Same; one good memory and three bad ones on that list!

Wouldn't it be 3?
1. Doc
2. Trotter
3. Downing
Downing is an McD AA according to the Wiki:

Yes--see my post above. But he was a transfer, so I think that is why most don't count him.

Yeah, by the time Walter left DePaul Blue Demon fans were wondering "Where's the beef?".

Iowa with 34 players? Come on.
Is Wisconsin high school girls basketball that bad that not a single girl from Wisco is a finalist?

Yeah - see my post above. That fact alone means "McDonald's All-American
Nominee" is a title with no distinction whatsoever.

Yeah, I know.
Still 34 nominees from Iowa is insane.

I saw you had him named, but not identified as an AA.
I think most don't count him because he didn't play like one :). If he averaged 20 points/10 boards and led us to a final four, we'd gladly include him in our list of AAs. But technicallly, once an MCD AA, always an MCD AA.

Hey, nobody from Iowa gets nominated unless they
at least start for their HS team!
Illinois has 3 guys I've never heard of from Seton Academy College Prep High School. I wonder if the coach of Seton Academy College Prep High School has the info on how to nominate?

I seem to recall one year back in the '90's some coach down south (Albama or Georgia, maybe) nominiated his entire team.

I think this article sums up the selection process of AA quite well.
