Title: Marquette 10.5pt Dog Tomorrow
Post by: LAZER on January 11, 2013, 08:50:08 PM
Does this surprise anyone else?

I usually stay away from MU games, but I think that's a lot of points.

I suppose they are looking at Pitt's road thrashing of G'town and our home escape against G'Town.

Wow. 10.5 points in any BE game seems like a lot.

If MU can lose by 33 on the road against a top 10 team and by 2 to a horizon league team, 10.5 road dogs seems about right for this one.

Fair point. I still think I'd put money down on that.

So when we win by a couple it'll be a solid accomplishment.

ND is 8.5pt favorite at home against UConn which seems like a much more uneven matchup, to me at least.

I think 10.5 is a lot for a BE game, even more so given the pace Pitt plays.

Speaking of, is everyone boozed up to be soooooo in love with Katherine Webb? Don't get me wrong, she's box with her mouth closed... but those teeth look like Seabiscuit's.

You can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking your head up the cow's ass, but wouldn't you rather take the butcher's word for it?

I'm vacationing in Hawaii with my family, so the game is on at 7 a.m. here.

Having trouble finding a sports bar on Kauai that opens at 7!

As for the spread, 10.5 is a lot for any game involving two good teams. I never bet on games involving the alma mater, but if I had a gun at my head and was told I had to make a wager, I'd take the Warriors.

What sucks about getting old is that you no longer get a decent buzz but still often wake up with a headache.

Finding that out to be true unfortunately.

And, pretty please MU start the game hot, first half of the Georgetown game almost drove me over the railing at the BC.

It's times like this that I wish I was still a degenerate gambler. I would usually avoid teams I am a fan of, but 10.5 for a BEAST game and a team that's playing D like MU is tough to resist.

I have six-pack of Spotted Cow in my basement fridge in suburban Chicago.  Wanna trade places?

Just ask a native Hawaiian from the Sheraton Residences.

Pat Driscoll is in the building. Let's set the technical line at 2.5.

The way we shoot the ball I would not be tempted to take the points. Tough place to play. This could be a rough one for the Warriors.

Taking the points and running with it.

Hard to win by more than 10 when you only score 45.

MU struggles to put up points, but the overall defense and pace of the game should keep them closer than 10.

I don't think PITT has the firepower to blow them out.

I would take the points based off being stingy on D again. Thankfully I am inclined to wager so I can watch the game with no added worries.

Why wouldn't they be a large dog?

MU has shown no talent, skill, tempo, heart, poise, or toughness on the road in their two appearances. Now they enter the arena of the team who's been the most impressive in Big East play over the last decade and people seem surprised by +10.5?

PITT's record over the past decade will have ZERO impact on today's game.

DeJuan Blair isn't playing, and neither is Jerel McNeal.

Sorry... You don't get credit for "a couple."

MU won by "a few."

And of course, I sound like a genius now, but don't EVER bet against Marquette and the points. Thought you guys and gal would have learned your lesson in 2010-11.

LOL.  Thanks Ben.  Close enough for a 'gentleman's C' I'd assume.

Concur with your assessment.  Warriorchick and I are regular Vegas visitors.  I don't remember exactly which season (2-3 ago) but MU was one of the surest bets on the board.  We seemingly covered just about every game.

Ummm ... I don't think I was complaining. Unless anytime anybody states a fact, he/she is complaining.

Ended up watching via streaming in my room. A real eye-opener!

Aloha!!!!
