As we all know Monterale Clark was sentenced to jail for rape. A few months ago i came across this man in hill county jail, in Central Texas. I was with him for a month or so. Anyways im just trying to get my point accross, everyone obviously makes mistakes and do things we wished would of never done! i knew him personally and knew he would do anything to play basketball again for marquette, "as he was wanting to do" . Just by looking at him he could be somebody great in the game! this was like during august of 2012, i talked to him. i currently dont know anymore information besides the fact he needs to be able to play basketball and be givin that chance to prove he is perfectly capable in succeeding not only in the game, but in the world. I was hoping by any chance any of yall have any latest info about Monterale Clark. If you have any questions feel free to ask, il try my best to answer them! i was just with him for a month but i know a few things about him and what he plans on doing; i just hope he can get back in the game.
If he does, I'm positive it won't be at Marquette. Everyone makes mistakes, and I can't pretend to know all the details of Monterale's story, but the mistakes he made ended any hope he had of playing for Marquette.
Agree. Conviction and jail sentence for rape doesn't equate to obtaining a basketball scholarship these days.
ok, i mean theres probably still a small chance he could get back into the game somehow right? i really do think he should be giving one more chance just from my opinion. but everyone doesnt think the same and i know that. if you here anything about his situation please let me know. Im trying to work towards getting a scholarship myself since im back in highshcoolz! have the ability just have a short period of time and from a small school! but not impossible. but about monterale i hope he can get into the game again!

Badger troll?
Either way, maybe he gets another chance somewhere someday, but it won't be at MU.
yes yall have a strong point, but i guarantee you 25% of other athletes have a background but they had another chance. doesnt matter what kind oif background it is! what they did is what they did cant change it. but why wouldnt he givin another chance just like the rest of them? i think he should
If he got a shot, it would be at a small juco or something, and he would be under the finest of fine microscopes. If he so much as took two helpings of peas when he was supposed to take only one in the lunchline that would be it.
People make mistakes, yes. But not all mistakes are created equal.

Again, he was convicted of rape and sentenced to prison. This is not a theft case, not a battery case or even a weapons violation. It is a rape conviction. No way does he obtain a scholarship. If he wants to apply to college and get a degree on his own, then wish him the best of luck in turning his life around. Basketball scholarship. No.
I don't know enough about the specifics to be judgemental of Monterale. The court transcripts did not look good. That said he is paying a price and I hope he can regroup. I think the NCAA rules on age limits once he started playing on the JUCO level will keep him out of D1 ball. I hope he gets a chance to get a degree. The best path may be a NAIA school. No athletic scholarship but assistance is available. If he works hard he probably could play overseas. I hope he serves as a lesson for other young athletics. This is a guy who had the potential to make millions playing basketball.

I thought about that as a probable scenario, but would there be any immigration/visa issues relating to his conviction?
Okay, yes that is true! Man that just gets me aggravated on what people do that just wastes away there life! well ok, thanks for the opinions and everything, im sure everything will workout for monterale "like they should". Hope yal the best. thanks again
@ tulsa. right on the money man!! I looked up to him and actually still do. he is a good guy that just didnt make a wise choice and probable screwed all up for him! but knowing him i hope he could continue someway on that path that hes meant for! Remembering talking to him he did mention something about overseas. but then again would he be able to participate overseas? because of his background, thats what im curious about

He did the crime, he's doing/did his time. Almost certainly he knows better than to be involved with something like that again. He didn't realize what he was risking, and now he's learned the hard way. Everyone deserves a second chance, especially for a mistake made early in life.
Here's the problem: If he commits another rape, if he just gets into a borderline situation, if he does nothing wrong, but is accused anyway, its not just on him, the whole basketball program would be shattered. At minimum the coach loses his job, probably the athletic director too. The new coach who is hired is straddled with all kinds of recruiting restrictions. Female students complain to newspapers
correctly that their safety was compromised for basketball success. Marquette becomes a news story all over for all the wrong reasons giving the school a black eye. The student newspaper publishes a series of articles about the perception that basketball players live a pampered existence and aren't "real" students. You probably don't know this, but Marquette had a situation where an athlete was accused of sexual assault, and Marquette was accused of covering it up, or at least not following through on it correctly. That made the papers in at least two cities. That got the attention of the people responsible for running the school. It can't happen again. A small outside chance that it could happen again will not be tolerated.
Monterale is a very talented guy, at a position that Marquette always needs help at. I and many others on this message board were very excited when he committed to Marquette. None of us would want to see the school take a chance on him now. If he could get accepted to Marquette on his own, if he could pay his own way, he still wouldn't be allowed to walk on to the Marquette team. It's over, Monterale needs to look elsewhere.
Last Suspect In Hill Assault Enters Plea Monterale Clark of Milwaukee, Wisconsin received six years in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) after entering a guilty plea on a sexual assault charge.
Based on the fact he's going to probably do at least 2 or 3 more years I think Buzz will recruit over him.
