Tuesday night against a sub 500 drake team and they pull 18k, fourth largest in team history....gonna be some fun games in Omaha!!! Hope they come in as predicted!!!
Yeah, and I have a feeling McDermott is there for the long-haul.
Hope so, chance he could crack that elusive 3k point mark though hard pressed to think he'll sniff pistol Pete
If referring to Doug as opposed to Greg; hope both stay though!!
I think he was referring to the coach... I doubt the NCAA will make an exception to the eligibility limits.
Well you know, long haul possibly meaning Doug's four years as he's currently projected for 2013 draft and a very strong tourney could skyrocket the guy

I was. He is a very good coach.
They have a great fan base and it is a fine school. They had almost 16k for a 48 point win over the Longwood Lancers on Nov. 20. Very excited for this rivalry to develop.
well, having grown up near Omaha, I can tell you that there isn't a whole lot to do there and if you like basketball, this is pretty much it for you.
Agree though that the fan support is tremendous. it's a nice facility that they play in too.
Yeah...instead of playing Syracuse, Pitt, Loserville, Uconn every year I want to play Creighton! Can't wait!!! You people are out of your minds. Maybe we will be lucky enough to have Brian Wardle as our coach...you know Buzz isn't staying and I can't blame him.

Who is out of their minds? People looking for reasonable alternatives or someone bitching that it won't be like it was before...and never will be again?

In case you didn't notice, Syracuse, Pitt, and Louisville already left, and there's no invite coming from the ACC any time soon. So are we better off sticking around to play UConn and Cincy but also having to play Houston, SMU, and Tulane, or bailing and playing Georgetown, Butler, Creighton, and VCU without the sub-200 RPI draggers at the bottom?

I wouldn't be surprised.
A lot of schools came calling for Dana Altman during his 16 years before Oregon was finally able to pry him away.

Or we could be totally screwed like UConn. Sometimes you have to accept reality.
Will be happy to have Creighton in the C7+. I was hoping we'd stop at them, Xavier and Butler, at least at first, but Dayton and St. Louis will be fine, too.

Jt, The old Big East is dead. This is the best option available to MU. See my signature.

This was my attitude about a year ago. Turn the page man. It's not Syracuse and Louisville, but I'd much rather play Creighton and Xavier than SMU and Tulane.
The poster said that they "couldn't wait" to play in the same conference as Creighton. I recognize those (Big East schools) are leaving, but I certainly wouldn't say I "can't wait" to being a mid-major with no coach and a bunch of lost recruits. That's the reality of the situation but if you are all excited about that so be it. The whole thing is depressing.
How about you do a little research before you run your mouth of this nonsense. The conference as it was shown consistently would have been around the 5th best conference. Thats better than the SEC and better than the Pac 10 in some years. Plus its gonna be better then the current Big East once it blows up. Next were going to be maxing more money off the television contract. I swear, some scoopers...

Did I fall asleep and miss something? We are now a "mid-major" and lost our coach and recruits?

Only you used the words " can't wait"; the original post and everyone else just spoke to wanting them in the league; if you can find 3-5 teams willing to leave their conf that are better than Creighton let's here it
I am biased because I got my undergraduate degree from Creighton. But, I am extremely excited for them to join the new conference.

Um, actually nobody said that at all.

Extremely excited or you can't wait?
As someone who lives in Omaha, I am extremely excited by the possibility of Creighton in this new conference. Our alumni association here would throw together a nice party for any out of town fans, though tickets may be hard to come by.
I can't wait to be a mid-major, as JT defines it. Mid-majors have gone to the Final Four every year since 2006 (except last year).
To me they were a no-brainer for this conference from day one.
Creighton ranked top 25, Marquette isn't. They must be doing something right.

I think a few $10 Runza gift cards would suffice I'm sure.

Personally I find meat twinkies repulsive, but I could hook you up with Valentino's pizza.

Nah, some Godfathers groundbeef pizza would be golden.

I know it was a long time ago, but please recall that Creighton was a respected Basketball program, until...
Kevin ROSS
v.
CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY
Mr. Ross attended Creighton from 1978 until 1982. During that time he maintained a D average and acquired 96 of the 128 credits needed to graduate. However, many of these credits were in courses such as Marksmanship and Theory of Basketball, and did not count towards a university degree. Mr. Ross alleges that he took these courses on the advice of Creighton's Athletic Department, and that the department also employed a secretary to read his assignments and prepare and type his papers. Mr. Ross also asserts that Creighton failed to provide him with sufficient and competent tutoring that it had promised. When he left Creighton, Mr. Ross had the overall language skills of a fourth grader and the reading skills of a seventh grader. Consequently, Mr. Ross enrolled, at Creighton's expense, for a year of remedial education at the Westside Preparatory School in Chicago. At Westside, Mr. Ross attended classes with grade school children. He later entered Roosevelt University in Chicago, but was forced to withdraw because of a lack of funds. In July 1987, Mr. Ross suffered what he terms a "major depressive episode," during which he barricaded himself in a Chicago motel room and threw furniture out the window.
Having lived in Omaha my whole life (albeit, 20 short years), I'm ecstatic about the prospect of Creighton joining this conference. While they won't be playing Marquette during my 4 years here, they'll make for a GREAT conference member. Incredibly dedicated fan base and always relevant come March. In today's landscape, there's not much more you can ask for from a basketball-only school.
