greatness today while dispatching the hapless Wildcats. (sigh). I was thinking how interesting our team would be if he and Maymon had both stayed at MU.
edit: maybe with both of them we'd have had one healthy.
Mbakwe was the second coming of Maurice Lucas. A man on the boards.
Wouldn't Mbakwe be in his 2nd or 3rd pro season right now if he stayed here?

Hmmmm, true, true, but he and Maymon would have had some time together.
I know we have been very impressed with MU's rebounding thus far but watch the gophers go to work on the glass. It sometimes isn't even fair. Makes up for the fact they can't shoot at all as they rebound half their misses for putbacks.
If Maymon stays, we don't have Crowder. I think things worked out just fine for MU in that regard.
Gophers next 3 game include Illinois, Indiana, Michigan. Will be interesting to see how these Big 10 teams perform against each other.

Exactly. Maymon transferring was all good. Good for Jae, good for MU, good for UT and (given the proximity of his dad) good for Jeronne.
And good for Buzz as well.
I was at the game. The block he had at the rim and jam at the other end was impressive. But basically he had two uncontested dunks and otherwise could not do anything offensively against a pretty bad Northwestern team. He is a very good defender and rebounder but has a long way to go on offense. The guy we need is Austin Hollins - five treys in three minutes? That kid brought the house down.

Trevor has shown a face up game and he has been pretty high percentage. A lot of times he isnt looked to do much except gobble up their many jump shot misses. Late in first half they had more OR than defensive. His free throws are inconsistent though.
While MU could always use Austin Hollins. Don't just use one game though. He is a streaky shooter and came in shooting in the low 30's I believe from 3 but had been playing hurt. The guy can defend like a champ though.
That's one transfer that I never understood. He would've been the lone big man on a team with Matthews, James, and McNeal the following year - would've been starting every game his soph yr on a top 25 team.
He is one kid I was disappointed to see leave. Honestly did not he would be this good but the kid can flat out play.

It would have been a disaster, Mbakwe can't handle PG.

Didn't his leaving have something to do with being near his baby's mother?
