At the game, Chili, so not much from me today!
Junior out of control early.
Thank God for the Ox - no shutout!
Can someone give Lockett a lesson on how to feed the post? A good solid bounce pass usually works fairly well.

Anyone else think DG should have had an "and one" on his basket?

I think the guy who floored DG needs to be sent flying.
Pitcher's duel
In the predictions I said 50 points might be tough. I may amend that to 40.
This game is going to come down to who can get into the bonus first in each half. free throws and foul trouble are going to be huge here.
Seems like a lot of contact and no calls.
Words I never thought I'd (but am delighted to) hear: "Blue - known to be a very effective 3-point shooter". ;D
TV guys really talking up Lockett. You know they got that from Buzz.
Diligence, hard work.....
This thread's lack of post is similar to this game.
Very interesting game.
I love Cadougan, but this might be a good game to try a lineup like Blue, Mayo, Lockett, Wilson, Gardner.
The high screen and role with Gardner and Blue could be a good combination against GU.
Announcers deep in the tank for Georgetown. Its nauseating.
Great hustle play by Anderson.
Gotta love Juan's energy.
Love the Hustle by Juan, he reminds me a lot of Butler in his first year at MU.

And unsurprising.
At least they gave Juan props there.
I like them putting Taylor in here I think he offers a lot against GU.
How's the crowd look? No panorama of the BC on ESPN3 yet...
Junior has been absolutely abysmal so far.
Jake Thomas, meet bench.
Ah, Junior.
Quote from: mileskishnish72 on January 05, 2013, 01:50:44 PM
Ah, Junior.
Not completely his fault (could have easily been called a foul), but we need to at least get a shot up there!
What a crapty finish. :(
Quote from: mileskishnish72 on January 05, 2013, 01:50:44 PM
Ah, Junior.
That one isn't on Junior, Blue should have gave that ball up early. He had a lane if he used the pick correctly. Instead he dribbled around for 5 seconds and gave it back to Junior, who was double teamed 30 ft from the hoop with 3 seconds on the shot clock.
Junior is the only reason Georgetown is even in this game. What an awful display. And Jamil hasn't been any better.
MU has missed 9 shots within 3 feet of basket, whether a reverse layup, drive or whatever.
On 6 occasions it has gone down with one second left on clock to shoot and MU made two prayer threes. That last possession was just terrible. Blame on Blue and Junior here.
Bad Junior in first half, very bad.

Junior would have at least 4 more assists if the other guys would finish easy layups. The bad plays by Junior result from players not going to where they are supposed to be when he has driven the lane. He ends up too deep and has to shoot.
I don't think many people on here understand the pg position much. If the other guys don't do what they are suppose to you end up looking bad.
Jamil too often looks to pass. Does not often enough look to shoot. :-\
Gardner has been completely absent. He is getting dominated down low and has given up some points (including the last 3) by not being active on D.
Granted, the zone is making it difficult for him.

He did shoot 0-for-6 in the half and was out of control on at least half of those shots.
I'll take a different and more optimistic outlook....I think MU is playing pretty well. GU is ranked 15th for a reason and their defense is smothering. The fact we are getting decent shots (for the most part....some are heaves as shot clock winds down, granted) is very encouraging. GU is long so even seemingly easy shots are more contested than usual. Start making more of those and we should be fine. Lets also give some props to OUR defense today. Outstanding. Vander is playing like the best player on the court and Lockett looks strong today too. Juan is a hustle machine and Gardner will get it going.
Looking forward to a great second half (and Jake....when does the hot part of the streak shooting occur?)
A game like this makes we wince all over again thinking of how close we were on D'Angelo.

Yes, 2 were long 3's at the end of the shot clock. One where the outlet pass guy ran the wrong way. 2 drives to initiate contact and draw fouls. And one wide open baseline jumper that just missed.
When he has been out the offense has been incredibly stagnant. People make wide open lay-ups and he's has 7 assists at the half.

I agree, I think we are playing well. Need to make the shots. Our D with about only 3 exceptions has been unbelievable.
Lockett!!!!!
Antone notice how CO sealed for Lockett!?!
Okay...that was an ugly turnover by junior...sheesh
Wow we went from looking like an NBA team to a YMCA youth league game in about 10 seconds.
I like the fact that 5 different guys have scored this half, but God, take care of the ball.
This game isnt really about neither team being able to shoot. It is more the fact that neither team can go 3 straight possessions without doing something dumb. Most of the time two straight is asking too much.
Any more questions about Lockett? Predict SOTG....
Need a W, then.

Agreed. Sadly, Lockett decided that he could do even worse the very next possession.
Racking up the fouls, have to be careful.

Good call. I didn't realize we had as many as we do this half.
Defense and rebounding have been the best I have seen for MU this year. Btw, if GU played UW-Madison would the over/under be 70?
If Jamil would consistently take and hit that jump shot from the FT line, we would be just fine against the zone this year.
MU had chance to extend but missed threes by Mayo and Blue, ugh. MU is 3 for 15 from three, two of which were prayers.

Jamil playing really well this half....aggressive, good passing and hitting his shots...nice

You are probably right. Just pulling for a guy tha lt plays that hard.
Gtown making everything from deep now to keep it close. Todd with a nice answer finally. I will never understand Jamil. He is our highest percentage shooter..........but he doesnt shoot.
Seriously man, pull the trigger. Good things happen.
*note. You know what I mean by shooter. I know Gardner and Otule are higher in FG%

Mayo too, really composed and making great passes. Nice 3, got himself set and didn't try to make it too difficult. Letting the game come to him.
Much better second half by everyone, including Junior and Jamil. Just don't know if we can hang on. This is a very good Georgetown team.
Except last three possessions. Chance to extend, up three and two times shot at 0 and one non shot. That is not very good execution and been like that on at least 10 occasions.
lots of chances to extend the lead and we havnt. Cmon D.
That block was brutal on the last possession but I love it when Cadougan goes hard to the basket.
Great D by Otule

Ok, Lockett SOTG, if we pull this one out.
A Lockett Blockett! He has been great today in ALL aspects of the game
We need a bucket here. Can Buzz draw up a winning play?
Lockett Lockett
Baaaaad possession out of a timeout
And now it all comes down to our defense.
This one's gonna sting!
Why can't we have one guy who can shoot from 10 feet without charging?

Wow...and Lockett almost got another foul on his FT miss with Lubick 85 feet away from the hoop...wtf is the guy thinking??

Nice! Big Win!

After that boneheaded foul on the 3, not a chance.
Good game guys. Frustrating. I thought we would win on several occasions. Ball didn't bounce our way today. Got really unlucky, but that's part of the game. I really thought we had it when we were fouled on that three pointer. I thought it was going to be a mirror of our only other victory in Milwaukee as Johnathan wallace nailed three free throws to send the game to overtime in a very similar game. Alas it wasn't too be. Oh well. On to the next one. If we had to lose I guess I'd prefer it be to you. Hopefully we can rebound against Pitt. In both senses since our rebounding was terrible.

When you play with your heart on your sleeve the entire game you can't just turn off aggressiveness. I think he intended of flying by in front, and jumped closer to him than he intended.

So the next time Blue does something like this, you can chalk it up to him playing with his heart on his sleeve and being aggressive. Good? Good.

Bonehead plays aside, this was Trent's best game at MU..he at least always plays hard with everything he's got.

For a game over winter break, especially on an afternoon when 90% of the sports fans in the city were gearing up for a Packer playoff game, it was a pretty good crowd. It wasn't a great crowd, but when was the last time we had a great crowd before classes were back in session?
