Title: Can you remember a game when....
Post by: MarquetteDano on January 01, 2013, 10:50:59 PM
so many different players made a really critical play?

Lots of mistakes made and missed open shots but that was truly a team win.

I thought Lockett's block of boatright in OT was pretty big too

Honestly, other than the repeated clanging of jump shots, I thought this was the best that MU has played all year.    Everybody contributed, smart decisions with the ball, great help defense, good ball movement, open shots......  CLANG.    Gotta keep shooting.

Concur with the above.  It is simply amazing to see that when MU plays with that level of intensity evidenced by limited turnovers, excellent rebounding while simultaneously playing solid individual and team defense that we CAN overcome a horrible outside shooting night.

When we win this year, it'll be because we do the 'little things' right more often than not.  Napier was BY FAR the best player on the floor but was beaten by a TEAM effort.

The more I think about it, the more I agree with this.

We can't win against the really good teams shooting like this -- just as a better MU team last season couldn't beat Florida in the NCAAs shooting like this. But if we shoot just a little better, especially from 3-point range, and play with as much intensity and sense-of-purpose as we did last night, the season will be more successful. More interesting and fun, too!

Most of those misses weren't bad shots, they just didn't fall. For that reason I have no problem at all with the misses. If they were heavily-defended prayers, then I'd be mad. Sometimes the shots just don't fall. It's heartening that they fought through the misses and came away with a hard-earned W anyway.

You would be correct.  Played almost a complete game.

And most of the misses weren't forces.   Most were in rhythm and in balance and just did not go in.
