Do you think he would've received more minutes than he currently is at Zona?

His athleticism and shooting would have been pluses but his inexperience may have been a hindrance.
I just think he'd get more than minutes with MU than what he's getting now.
Thoughts?
Was he a serious MU target?

We finished as runner up....and we felt like we actually had him locked up...Arizona entered the picture fairly late as I recall, not long after Sean Miller got the job...and we lost out...
And the feeling was we went harder at Gabe York than Kris Dunn who ended up being a Top 50ish prospect and signed with Providence...so it was a double whammy.
He was a teammate of my coworker's son out here in California. Her son has been looked at by San Diego State, Pepperdine, Miami, ASU, as well as some smaller schools. He and York both played for the Compton Magic. I remember when MU was in with York I would tease her, wear a Marquette sweatshirt or something to your games. She wasn't a booster so she could get away with it.
York wanted to be closer to home from everything she told me, I don't think we had any real chance due to our distance from So. Cal. I know this is counter to what has been said here, but this was coming from her and what she was hearing at their AAU games. That he wanted to be close to home.
Who knows.
He is going to have a hard time at Arizona as they over recruit every year. He was on the bench tonight and did not look happy at all. Barely got off the bench to be a cheerleader,
I am sure that is not what he wants to do, he wants to play. California to MU is a world apart. Go visit Arizona and you will see why you would want to go to school there. The weather
is awesome and the coeds are not bad. I see him transferring to a school in the Cali in the future. probably one of those mid-majors out there.
Perhaps, St. Mary's?

We stopped recruiting Dunn when TJT committed.
Mark Lyons (team's leading scorer) is a senior and Arizona doesn't appear to be in on any big name guard for next season. If York can play, he should have a good shot at getting some solid PT next season on a potential FF team.

I believe Dunn had moved on from MU, prior to the TJT commitment anyway...due to seemingly taking a back seat to York. Dunn at one point said MU was his dream school...

Of course he'd get more minutes at Marquette. When there's not much talent around relative to your abilities, the chances of playing time increase greatly.
MU was recruiting him as a combo guard at 6'1"...I seem to remember that AZ wanted him as a PG where they are trying to slot Lyons this season. He really is a lights out shooter though. Even in garbage minutes this season he is primarily launching treys. We could have used him this season...ultimately TJT and then Thomas took his scholie. However, in the end, DuWilson will be a better fit in Buzz's system as that combo and JJJ will fill the shooter role.
Btw, losing Benford basically takes MU out of the West Coast talent pool. Miller will own this, especially with UCLA in disarray.
We will never know how a 2012 York commitment to MU would have efftected the 2013 class. I happy with 2013 class and therefore I am happy we missed on York.

York for Duane?
Right now...Yes sir. Every day.
Lost THAT perspective!

It sounds like you are saying you would rather have York than Duane Wilson. I rather have Wilson.

I thought he meant that he'd happily trade York for Duane.

He put a question mark after York for Duanne, which I took him to be saying he did not agree with me.
Gabe York was our #1 priority.....He changed his mind at the last second.....(a day or week).....They thought he was a lock.....and then the Arizona co-eds got to his "head".....
Dunn got pissed off at York being our #1 priority and started looking elsewhere months earlier.....When we came back around......He did not give us the time of day....And I do not blame him....
The TJT commit had nothing to do with these events.....They were totally separate.....
I think you can see that in the 13 class.....Buzz learned not to put his eggs in one basket.....
He offered both Wilson and Nunn and said whoever takes the scholly first gets it.....
After that another opening occurred with the last minute de-commit and Nunn was also offered.....
I am very happy with Wilson because I think he will be the best of the lot and a future star at MU and another in long line of MU guards to be an NBA player....
Recruiting is indeed a waltz.....sometimes a two step.....
He's not better than Lyons, Nick Johnson or even Jordin Mayes, who doesn't play nearly as much this year as he did last year. They're playing a much bigger lineup this year with Hill and Parrom getting the majority of the minutes at small forward. Angelo Chol isn't getting many minutes after being the 1st big guy off the bench last year. He's about their 10th-best player, and he's getting 10th-best player minutes.

That's what I meant. It was unclear.
I'd happily trade York for Duane Wilson in the future, though Gabe would definitely be a help - IF his defense and shooting were up to snuff.
