Title: Fantasy Football advice at QB
Post by: ChicosBailBonds on December 20, 2012, 12:53:35 AM
I'm in the championship game at work this week.  I've got Cam Newton and Tony Romo for QBs...having a hell of a time figuring out who to play.  Newton goes up against Oakland, Romo against New Orleans.  The "guru" keeps saying to play Romo because New Orleans defense is so bad.

Suggestions?  Normally I would go with Newton but Romo I've plugged in about 40% of the time this year and he's mostly done well for me.

Newton.

Oak defense is poor as well. He has been running well lately, and that is a nice bonus.

Romo at home.  He plays well there and NO pass defense is just terrible.  Dallas in playoff hunt and has the motivation/incentive factor.

Newton. Oakland defense is awful. Newton/Carolina's offense playing well the past few weeks. Newton ranked #1 in ESPN Fantasy QBs this week.

Agree. Newton.

Cam Newton is rolling with Steve Smith right now.

I'd put Cam as the #2 QB this year, Romo at #4.

I'm taking Carolina in my suicide pool this week, trying to go 16-0 if that helps.

In Cam I trust.

Also playing for the championship this week.  The service I consult has Newton ranked #1 scoring 21.2 points and Romo #6 at 19.0 based on 4 pts for TD and 1 pt every 25 passing yards and -2 per INT and 1 pt for every 10 yds rushing.

Anyone care to assist with this one?

Seattle D vs. San Diego D... Seattle is good, playing at home, but against the 49ers. San Diego has had double digits in the past few weeks and is playing against a shitty jets O. Thoughts?

I have the same choice and I'm going with San Diego, for what it's worth.  But it's pretty much a coin flip.

i always pick my defenses based on who they're playing, not who they are.  with the possible exception of the bears earlier this season (who i never had because employing this strategy doesnt allow you to get them) my defense changes just about weekly. I typically follow bad offenses around, just about regardless of who that leads me to pick up. so in this situation, I'd go with SD.

Crap.  Should have gone with Romo.  Oh well, Newton had a decent game...Romo had a great one.  Leading going into the afternoon games, hoping to hang on.

The way our scoring works, the Packers D doing better today.  I went with the Packers.

EDIT:  That last TD given up by the Packers swung it the other way, but very close.

Man, I hate to say I told you so, but......

400 yards and 4 TDS in regulation alone.  Murray fumble at own 5 yard line may haunt them.

BTW, for you midwest guys, Robert Griffin III is the real deal.  He is better on one leg than at least half the QBs in the NFL.

How does a team give up 11 sacks? That's 11 D points in my league

Griffin might very well end up being great, but everyone thought cam Newton was a guaranteed hall of famer after his first season too.  And how'd Vince Young's career turn out? All I'm saying is temper expectations for rookies and allow a large body of work before making unfounded statements

Not unfounded and who's discussing careers?  As of today and of this year, he is better than half the QBs in the NFL on one leg.  Andrew Luck, another rookie is the same.  This year...

Im hanging on for dear life right now.  I'm out of players, my opponent has the Seahawks defense and Golden Tate.  I'm up by 37 points at the half of this second game.

I looked at Romo and Newton and everywhere I went it said go with Newton except for one place.  I'm a huge Cowboys fan and I have gone with my hear at times this year and got burned.  So I went with Newton.  Crap.  It wasn't a bad call, Romo just had a great game and he's been on fire lately.

If I pull this out, I'll feel ok.  I left some points out there in two other positions as well.  Nicks for the Giants put up a goose egg...what a disaster he has been.  Ugh.

EDIT:  Held on to win.  Golden Tate did virtually nothing for him last night.  Winner winner, chicken dinner.
