no to the new league? There are a lot of really confident (or should I say arrogant) MU, Nova, Gtown people out there assuming XU will just move over to "us". Hope we're ready for possible rejection, cause it may happen. Fact is the A-10 is a good basketball only league and moving over to another good basketball only league makes little sense to a lot of XU alum. Be prepared....
Are you sure your name isn't UDPride?
If the new league will make them more money, they will not say no.
This is not rocket science.
So what happens when Xavier says....no then Butler, Dayton and St. Louis say yes. They'd have some splainin' to do...
The only thing I'm hearing from the few X alum I know personally, is they can't wait. Playing teams with a higher profile will only elevate their team/university/brand. Not to mention the a more lucrative TV contract.
And nice first post.
Xavier will leap at the chance to play with names like Georgetown, Marquette
and Villanova as opposed to Dayton, St Louis and Duquesne. Also, $$$$$$$$
Xavier isn't saying no......so you need to be prepared.

Eh....we'll move on to SLU then. No problem.
a couple hundred grand will not get them to move.....and no, I'm not UD Pride - that guy is a joke, as is Dayton basketball and their "history".
Fine. They can stay. Not sure why you think we care. There are other schools that will accept no doubt.
And Xavier knows this...which is why they wont say no.

I think "we" care cause it's gonna make us look real small if we can't get the best team in the A10 to move over to our "better/preffered/awesome" new league.
They will not say no, in the new conference each team will get approx what the BE basketball teams are getting now, otherwise they wouldn't be jumping just yet. An extra $1.2mill+ for X per year, prime time games not on a hidden cable channel and marquee competition are the reasons for leaving the A10 behind.

Not really. It will be their mistake.

Uuhhhh, you been around long? MU doesn't have the best luck when it comes to basketball related things over the past couple years.

Like what?
If Xavier said "no" followed by Butler and the next most attractive A-10 team saying "yes," I suspect Xavier would be the 10th team on board.
This is Xavier's chance to rid itself from the dregs of the A-10 and move into a league with quality at the top and higher profile teams in the middle and the bottom.
They know this is in their best interest and they won't pass up this chance to upgrade.
More money, better competition, more prestige and more games on TV..........
win, win, win, win.....

Ding! Ding! Ding!
Xavier isn't going to say no and risk seeing the rest of the A-10's best teams head out the door on them.
Plus, Chris Mack has already said he's on board with it. My guess is X's administration will want to keep him happy.

Charming that the troll is using "we" as if he's an MU fan.
I know he's a troll. No one but homers would call the A10 a quality basketball conference.

I think we're just saddled more than our fair share of paranoid, skittish chicken littles.
This one though...another Dayton fan struggling with their future with St. Bonnies as their biggest rival, or if they're "lucky" fighting DePaul for last place.

Just thinking out loud.....seems everyone just assumes people will join us and are not thinking of the other things that could happen here....and the money that people assume we'll get from tv is up in the air - no one here works for NBC or ESPN...

So OhMyJesus1@gmail.com is your firm account or personal email?
Meanwhile, over at the Xavier forum Musketeer Madness, a poll has 93 percent of the X fans wanting to be in the new conference, the rest wanting to remain in the A-10.

And someone over there claiming to have a source says Xavier and Butler could be announced as new members as soon as Wednesday. The only holdup is deciding on a 10th conference member.

He's not a X troll. I'm sure he's a Dayton troll.
Yes please don't confuse me with a filth Dayton fan. They seriously have a major inferiority complex due to their clear inferiority to X. Always liked Marquette. Our programs/schools/success are very similar. That being said I def think we are in. I would like to see us admitted at the formation of the conference so we can become a charter memeber and have a say in teams to be added. If not, oh well, it's going to be a great league with hardly any bottom feeders.

Well, there's DePaul still.
I've always liked X myself. Probably will have to knock that off in 2014 though. My first choice to add, followed by Gonzaga.
