I'd assume that any announcement of the new conference would require a commissioner to oversee it. Wonder if that is part of the delay is getting someone in that role before reaching out to additional schools to round out the 10-12 total teams.
Any ideas on obvious choices there? If LW has really been the main mover leading this action is it possible he'd break off of MU to lead the conference? Would that be a step up for him?
If so about LW, everybody here would cheer because he obviously is the worst AD in the history of college sports.
Dave Gavitt, Jr would be ideal, but doubt that will happen. A transitional choice would be Mike Tranghese, former BE commish. At least he would be very familiar with the C7 schools, the MSG, the networks, etc. Need someone like that. Recruiting new members would be the role of the Prezes...

Now that we are headed for being a SLU-level BBall program he can move on to bringing this new conference down to the level of the Big South.
You need someone with television negotiating experience. You have to get a deal done that is meaningful in dollars, exposure, etc.

Nope. You don't volunteer for that job.
How 'bout an email campaign then?
I want Mike Broeker working on that TV deal as well. Wouldn't be surprised if MU loses him to a conference position.
My first pick would be Mike Tranghese. My second pick would be Dan Gavitt.
Dan Gavitt. Familiarity with the C7 plus his NCAA knowledge. Need someone soon to work on the TV rights.

Sounds like Tranghese would take it in the transition.

Seriously, someone new. Someone bold. Not a rehash of the same old, same old...
Is Mike Deane available?

I'd have no problem with this. He knew decades ago how important Penn State was. He helped guide the Big East become the greatest basketball conference ever. He has plenty of television experience, etc. We could do a lot worse.
