Title: Cowboys Stadium 2013 Kickoff
Post by: Dish on December 06, 2012, 11:38:56 AM
Per Seth Davis...

Next year's opening weekend of hoops will feature 4 games at Cowboys Stadium.

That's 4 games...being played simultaneously. Games will begin 15 mins apart, and be played side by side by side by side.

Mich St will be one of the 8 teams in the event, other 7 are unknown.

this is a little gimmicky, but would still be cool.

I think we should make a push to get included if it comes together. seeing that we lost out on our chance to place the carrier game, maybe this could be a make-up of sorts? i dont think they are run by the same organizations, but still...

Has MSU ever said no to a gimmicky game?

I think most of the teams will be relatively local if only to make sure the venue is filled. Texas, Arkansas, A&M, Oklahoma (or OSU) would all be solid shouts. I'd guess 2 SEC teams, 2 Big 12 teams, and 1 each from the B1G, Big East, ACC, and Pac-12.

If MU gets and invite, I can see the thread now......Buzz to Texas.   ;)

Organizer and developer of this event (and the Carrier Classic) is MSU's AD.

I always found it amazing how few players got confused at AAU game by whistles on the other courts.  I asked my son about it once and he said "I don't know....you just know."

Buzz will be in this game for sure.  The only question is as the coach of MU or Texas.

A hundred pages of responds to this statement starts in 3-2-1 ...

A little off topic but, the worst headache I ever had was sitting through a full day of club volleyball games side by side  by side. The piercing whistles and incessant freaking cheers after every point were enough to make my head explode.

And sometimes they do not know where the whistle is coming from in basketball. I have been to some AAU basketball games where the game will stop from a whistle on an adjacent court

Typically, when you're playing, you can anticipate the whistles in your game. If a whistle blows on the next court over while in your game, a player is dribbling up the court unguarded, you know the whistle wasn't for you. My coach always said to just keep playing on and the refs would let it be known that the play was dead. If you think about it, the odds of an adjacent whistle blowing at the same time as a "no call" in your game are pretty slim.

yeah, it isn't football where you tackle a guy and get a flag after the whistle. Just keep driving and they will wipe off the basket if it was after a whistle.
