That's it Vander- now Gardner needs to take it strong and get Murphy number 2
Vander looks good first game back.
Wilson shot selection not the best so far
We are not getting any calls. In part because we are not under control.
Agreed. Going to the hole, then falling away when shooting. Go strong or don't go at all!

He's 0 for 4.
Taylor, Thomas and D. Wilson on floor with Gardner bring up the ball at top of key. WTF?
Florida then goes on a run.

Yo
Not the best match-up for DG cuz FL's bigs are so athletic but we need him and Jamil to be aggressive....Van looks nice, big improvement in shooting form this year
Need to feed the Ox.
Um...should we defend the 3?
D Wilson. Awesome. Don't take him out!
The defense of giving up open threes all year long is now catching up with MU. I believe there have been four wideopen ones already.
Gotta defend 3-ball better but maybe Gators cool off....D-Will look in' nice
OMG Young is a man.
DWill must have thought he was back at the Pro Am those last couple possessions.

Yup. Gardner, Otule and Wilson finding out Young, Murphy and Yeugette are not UMBC or Colgate.
We have our hands full tonight.
Here we go. bBall only league.
Conf realignment talk and announcer mentions "Well, not just the Catholic schools" and then mentions Gonzaga, Creighton, and Butler.
Florida's turnovers keeping us in the game. To bad we can't score!
Wilson needs to show up soon.
Wilson is dusty tonight.
Get Juan some minutes

Does anyone know where the Vander-haters are tonight? Party at Chucky cheese?
Wow, charging call on Wilson at a bad time. He is 1 for 7 from field and is just not there. Fran just reamed him again for not going to the rim. Long night if he doesn't get it soon.
Altitude must be affectin' him
I think Wilson needs to sit for a couple of minutes.
The Butler game Jamil showed up not the SOTG version....ugghh
Can we get a call please? Im not saying we would be winning but it would help.
Wilson is struggling to say the least. His shot selection has been mostly terrible and the results uglier.
This is just getting ugly!!
Frazier = Jean Felix? I'm having nightmares already ugghh!!
Get a stop, Wilson misses by a mile. 1 for 8 now.
Get a stop, Gardner three second call.
Then another wide open three made.
Then another wide open three made.
22 points, ugh.....
Good night......
Ass kickin'
Maybe I'll catch the end of Glee. :P
How many undefended 3's are they going to get?
I'm also not really sure what Jake Thomas is doing in there. If all he's going to do it hang out on the perimeter he's going to have to let loose at some point. They are athletic enough to rotate and you aren't going to get many better looks than that.
is there a reason we keep playing this zone?
Can we bring in the twin towers?? No points from Gardner or Otule!
Offense is a problem.
Condensation on the court call the game no contest!
Someone needs to take out the knees of Young.
Why is thomas driving and not shooting?
You ain't in South Dakota anymore Jake! WOW Young grown man move
always some a*hole who goes off on MU 3 pt shooting - Frzier - 4 - 16 coming in to the game, 4-4 tonight
why does this always happen to Marq?
Let's hope nobody gets hurt.
Traditional tried drivin' on Young
Of course leaving all these open 3's on defense is not so hot either.
Marquette is just outmatched in this game. Nothing to be ashamed of on the road against #7. Keep plugging away.
Sidenote: Anyone else being driven nuts by the fact that Frazier shuffles his feet whenever he catches and shoots? Seriously, every single time.

You're right, Stash.
Will Buzz have a voice after half-time? Can we get a coach-mic live in locker room...uh wee gonna be ugly
Wilson playing scared. Blue looks good. No Gardner/otule yet. Dwilson and lockett played a good half I thought. Florida is very good. Lets hope MU makes a run in the second half.
For all the "sky is falling" scoopers. We will be fine this year. We are playing a top 5 team on their home court. Plus Vander is for real.

Because the way our defense sets up, overplays the strong side and are not quick enough on the rotation resulting in too many easy open 3's.

Cannot guard the 3 ball at all. Problem was pretty evident in Maui...
Beating a top 10 team on their court is well-nigh impossible. All I want to see in the second half is to see JWilson and DGardner play with as much passion as Blue and DWilson. Freedom is just another word for nothin left to lose.
I like to see Blue has no fear from that injury. He is basically picking up where he left off.

Good observation, gotta check that
The most recent one in transition was blatant. I don't know how they can let him do that.
It's a pet peeve of mine right up there with a player dropping a pass, picking it up and then dribbling again. That's double dribble (Jamil actually got away with it in the first half).
MU getting beat on boards 18 to 11.
Florida has 4 blocks to MU's 0.
MU 1 for 5 on threes, Florida is 6 for 14. I would guess 12 of those attempts were wide, wide open.
J. Wilson has 2 points and Gardner zero. Florida frontline doubling Gardner each time and he can't get pass off.
Florida zoning knowing MU can't shoot.
Why is JWilson so soft, looks like hes just going thru the motions, and the O doesn't move at all.No scorers, we be done.
Florida clearly has scouted MU's defense. They know MU traps the post and switches and helps They are spreading the floor so wide that if there is any help at all to the post, it will lead to....wait for it.....another wide open 3. And they are playing a really nice match-up zone. Historically against a zone, we would get DJO/Jae/Lazar to the foul line. Tonight, JWilson is going there occasionally and then doesn't really want it when he gets it there.
Gotta blame this all on our lack of football.
Check that. I blame Crean
Mbakwe's fault.

Great analysis, sad but true to read :(
Team looks lost against the zone. Why? They should be expecting every team to play zone.
Need to get it within 5 in in the first 8 minutes. Lets see what were made of and if JW can pull his head out of his arse.
Van had several out-of-control drives.
At least he was being aggressive. I wish the rest of the team showed up like Vander did.
Breaking news!!!.........Florida is pretty good, Allie Gator called it
But then again, someone had to do SOMETHING!!
Jamil is looking for the foul/contact. He needs to just go up strong and not worry about that. He'll be OK and will end this game in double figures scoring.

Yes and expect more this year than last.
Last year DJO, Crowder and Mayo were threats. This year who would believe Vander would be the threat. Yes, Wilson had his moments at times from three this year, but MU can't afford having their big man outside constantly. And Lockett?, Hasn't shown much as a replacement for DJO/Crowder point makeup.
Lets see what happens in second half heartwise.
Ugh. Not a good start.
Hope Buzz has vodka in that bottle
D Wilson time
Cadougan continues to embarass himself.
Pass much?
This is terrible
Must have jet lag
Time-out Buzz?
Junior no time shot
Wilson throws ball away
Junior throws ball away
Blue terrible shot doesn't hit rim
Lockett misses two free throws
Another missed long shot
And that are MU's first six possessions So much for good start.
Good thing JJJ didn't wait to sign his LOI.
A free throw!!!
The chips are down. We need a leader on this team
Why do all of our players leave their feet with the ball? MU looks weak. Make any excuse you want, but MU looks UMBC bad right now. BTW Jamil Wilson also travels every time he has the ball.
Has Marquette ever won a game in the BE-SEC series??
It's going to be a bridge year.
This isn't even mid major bb
Will we score in 2nd half?
Wow. This is MU at 'ville 2006 bad right now.
I'm not sure how we'll get any points this half...
"Bad Junior" is out tonight.
Never a good sign when the students are chanting "airball" at multiple players.
No reason to panic. That fact of the matter is that Florida is a lot better than Marquette. MU just needs to keep playing hard. Good chance to see how different players respond when the chips are down.

So this is our character revealed...
Jamil is always going to be soft. Never thinks he commits a foul..weak rebounder..weak defender..awkward shot..nice guy though.
I am 42 years old. I recently started playing pickup games for the 1st time in 4 years. I apparently have more confidence in my shot than Jake Thomas has in his.
Where is the guy from the Youtube video? Obviously, he wouldn't change this crapfest, but one shot? Reallly?
Where is Otule in this game. This sucks. Not ready to play at all
Worst showing under Buzz. Got to go back to the Crean NIT years to find anything comparable.
Im interested to hear what Buzz has to say after this one
Why is Lockett still playing

Thomas is a very good shooter but has a slow release. That's part of the reason why he ended up at South Dakota out of HS as opposed to a higher D1 school (i.e. Valpo, Loyola, etc).

And while in idiotville MU also had this game
2003 final four
April 5, 2003
Kansas 91 MU 64
Really it happened ... Google it.
Thank you stat fairy.
Seriously, lighten up.
It's difficult to lose by 33 pts. Glad we made it easy for Florida tonight...
I remember losing to UL by 37 and thinking that was crazy. It's was very expected though. Soft team, no leadership, no outside threats, no real toughness, just mediocre top to bottom. I'm sure well get better and win enough to get into the dance, but geez that was not even competitive for 35 min!

You also must have forgotten Louisville in the '11 BET and UNC in the '11 S16.
C'mon man, still got those scars

+1. The sky isn't falling at this time. This is a "teachable moment" for Buzz. The team will grow from this.
did the announcers say early in the game "buzz put them through a killer workout this AM?" if so, not sure that is the best way to prep to play Florida....

I actually thought we played OK in the first half. We look tired.
This is not even close to the worst game of the modern era. Not even close. Florida is really good...maybe not this good, but good.

They do that before every game.

So it is easier to rip a bunch of college players for a bad game than take some crap for a stupid post.
Are you that weak?

He clearly lacks leadership.

Looks like we might!
I turned it off...you mean we actually didn't break 50? WOW. I think we had 49 with like 2+ minutes left. Maybe next week.
it would help to have a PG that shows up every game instead of 3 out of 5 games...
I admit that I'm terrible at being optimistic after a loss but this game doesn't bother me too much. Just ran into a buzzsaw tonight. They will be fine. The only two things that were further proved tonight is that our point guard is an enormous liability and that our "best" player is soft.

What was the Kansas score with 3 future NBA players on the floor? 94-61?
Something like that, of course they beat #1 Kentucky the week before, top 5 Pitt as well. I'll take another Final Four butt kicking anytime just for the fact we would be in the Final Four again.

We also got off the plane from Hawaii to play UMBC and had to turn around and fly to Gainesville. It is early. We are going to struggle to score, but we've played a serious schedule so far...lost on a prayer to Butler and laid an egg vs. Florida. We are OK, but just OK. We will struggle to make the tourney, but that doesn't surprise me at all. We lost two all time greats in Jae and DJO and we are finding our way.
I like the way Blue is playing, but if he's our biggest scoring threat we could have problems. We need J Wilson or Davante to be more assertive and I don't really see that happening. Lockett is not athletic enough to be a big threat. He's basically Joe Chapman. We miss Mayo immensely
Mayo will be back in three weeks
Yes. That we can all agree on. ;D
At the end of the day, it's only one loss. Kind of a painful loss, but....
Next week, when we trounce Becky by ...... This will be forgotten.
I'll be very glad to have Mayo back, I just don't think his impact will be that big. I wish Jamil had the balls Vander does. He is playing well below his potential.
Anybody want to buy some good seats?

I won't forget this loss. It is one of our worst losses in the last decade...

Does this mean you forgot the 47 point loss against Louisville in 2005?
Yup - I'm old. But I do recall some good games back in 1977... ;D
