The Mavs are in town to play the Bulls.
I'm at the game rooting for Jimmy and Jae. Forget the Bulls this year.
I'm watching this game because of them. So awesome. Neil Funk just made a Marquette mention.
I'm in hoop heaven. Only thing that could make it better would be if one of the 4 screens in front of me had an MU game on. Got our guys going for the Bulls and Mavs; Bucky losing; and son of former MU roommate at GWU (from our future conference?) in a barn-burner. 2 minutes and I can go back in and watch the game live.

john k.?
Good call
Novak also made a trip to Milwaukee tonight and scored a season high 19 in the Knicks' win over the Bucks. As far as bad news, Wes had a pretty bad game which contributed to the Wizards getting their first win of the season against Portland.
Whatever you think about +/-, +34 is a pretty damn impressive number for Jimmy.

Interesting pic - makes me wonder how tall they are. I thought Jimmy was significantly taller than Jae but it doesn't look that way here.
Unless Jae was standing on something.

At one point tonight, Jae was guarding Jimmy. It was awesome. Sorry for the blurry picture; we were pretty high up.
butler +34 Bad game for Jae
Jae has not taken advantage of the minutes he has gotten with Nowitzki out. This just in: The NBA is a tough league.

Which is why I laugh when people say that the pros aren't really trying.

I disagree. He's been fine, had two double digit scoring games last week, and has been getting solid minutes.
Averaging 7 points and 3 rebounds as a reserve isn't that bad.
Jae started the last two games and scored 2 points in each game on combined 2-for-12 shooting, with as many personal fouls as rebounds.
Had 2 nice statistical games the previous week but in one almost all of his production came during garbage time. Was benched and didn't play a minute the game before that.
Was a key part of the rotation early in the season but Carlisle has had trouble finding spots where he can find success the last few weeks. Scoring in last 7 games: 4, 0, 0, 12, 15, 2, 2, with the 15 coming in garbage time during a blowout loss.
Still rooting for Jae. But he is finding out what a lot of rookies do about the talent level in the NBA.
Jae has certainly exceeded my expectations thus far. He's had some rough games this week, but I didn't think he'd get drafted and after he made the team I was expecting Lazar-type minutes. By all accounts he and Jimmy are working hard and their coaches love their attitude. I expect both to be solid 10-15 mpg guys in the league for the next few years. Obviously not the success-story of Wes, but that should not be the expectation.
Excellent points, AW.

It's hard to get a real gauge on Jae because Dallas' rotations are all over the place. They seem to have a different line-up and bench rotation every night. And, who knows what will happen to his playing time when Dirk comes back.
Jimmy is in a good place right now. He has a set role, one that has been expanded lately. Right now, he's backing up Rip Hamilton at the 2, and moves over to play the 3 when Deng goes to the bench or the Bulls go small with Deng at the 4. If that continues, he's looking at a steady 16 to 20 minutes a night.
