With all of the conference conversations, the upcoming game versus Florida seems to be lost in the shuffle. I haven't been able to listen to this due to work security but here is a preview from ESPN Gainesville...

we're going to lose. I just hope we don't get rolled and nobody gets hurt.

I love your confidence. Florida is definitely good and it will be a tough game, but if the boys show up to play and Florida isn't hot from deep early, it will be a good game.

That's kind of how I feel too. Hopefully I'm pleasantly surprised, but I'm not holding out much hope.
If we can stifle Floridas outside shooting, or if they are off, we have a good shot.
I don't know. Every year under Buzz we seem to knock off a 'giant'. Usually it occurs during conference but why not tomorrow too. I give us a shot and simply hope we play well.
They beat us handily on a neutral court, we had more talent leave than they did, and it is in their gym. Everything will have to fall perfectly for us to win. I am usually optimistic, I am just not feeling it this time.

The talent we lost didn't show up and shot 10-30 and 3-14 from three in that game. Not great reasoning.
Jake, Jamil, Trent, and Vander better bring their shot with them tomorrow. We NEED them to hit some shots to stay with it. Lets hope that UF doesnt shoot that well also.

Hopefully, I'm wrong.
i am fearing something similar to what happened to UW. obviously hope i am wrong, but we have struggled in every game this year, i dont see how we are all of a sudden going to walk into a top 5 team's place and execute flawlessly...
that being said, i never put anything past Buzz's teams. they always play hard/intense and if they can muck the game up enough to stay close who knows?
I think it will stay within 8 points. These kids are like all of us, I don't think they were playing with any sense of urgency while playing UMBC. They know what's at stake and want a huge statement win. Maybe I'm overly optimistic, but i have a feeling they will be coming to play more so than we've seen this year.

How long have you been watching Marquette basketball? We always play to the level of our competition and often times that means playing down to a lower level which is extremely frustrating. Also we rarely get blown out. Off the top of my head I can only think of a few times we were blown out under Buzz: Vandy last year, L'ville in the BEAST tourny, UNC Sweet 16, at Cinci last year, but other than those we lose close games (less than 10) or heartbreakers (Butler).
We'll be fine tomorrow and if Vander is 100% then personally I expect to win, but that's because I expect to win every game we play. It's time to show these Florida hillbillies what Marquette basketball really is, which is not shooting 30% from the field
Gardner and Otule must stay out of foul trouble. Florida's frontline is very strong and talented and maybe these two can match up for awhile with Patric Young.
Murphy vs J. Wilson is probably a wash.
Yeugette has the height over Vander, but no way can he keep up with him in transition. Florida might take advantage of the height difference with posting up on offense. MU will want to run.
Rosario and Boynton are dangerous and will shoot the threes. MU has not been very efficient with defense on the three point shot, giving opponents numerous open looks. So lets see how Buzz tightens that up. Junior and Lockett will have their hands full.
Some talking heads have Florida as a Final Four team and playing them on their home court will not be easy. But, you can never tell in this game. Lets just hope MU doesn't get in foul trouble. If so, big trouble.
Florida will roll to an easy win. Sorry for the brutally honest opinion.
Need to keep Yeugette and Young off the offensive boards. Rebounding is my biggest concern in this game.
Rosario is a guy that can shoot you in or out of a game.

Beal was
far and away the best player lost by either team. They also lost their PG, and the guy who was starting in his place is (was?) suspended. On the other hand, Yeugette was out for them last year.
If Virginia can beat the Badgers in Madison, we can certainly be competitive with the Donovan's in Gainsville. Jr has to come up big- no turnovers. Spread is 9 1/2 (Badgers were 10 point favorites tonight). I'll be very disappointed if Marquette doesn't cover. I like this team and we're ready to play a big game against a big time team.
Florida is favored by 10.5 and the over/under is 137.

Outside shots don't benefit big inside rebounders. hopefully vander is healthy because that kid has a nose for those long rebounds.
I was happy when Rosario xfered out of the beast. I'm not happy that we have to play him again. He was a force on a terribad team a few years back. He is a force of nature now.

Over last few years nothing surprises me about a buzz coached team. They seem to surprise when I least expected. Last years WVU win was a shock due to suspensions and who knows against FL.

Would love to see a jig across the gator snout tonight
it looks like it has moved to +11 now if I read that correctly?
I think I would take MU +11 and probably the over.
Anybody know who's on the horn tonight announcing the game? I wish it was Bilas.

They say the home court is worth 10 points so the bookies must think these two teams are sort of even. We can play with these guys. Buzz needs to get them ready for prime time, Jr needs to handle the pressure with intelligence.

Wisconsin is not very good and if they lose to MU they wil not get an NCAA bid. There are too many teams in the Big 10 that are better than the Badgers and they are in real trouble.

Home court is worth 10 points? That seems high. I thought it was something like 4 or 5.

Pretty sure it's worth 3-4... closer to 3
Junior is the key to the game. He is the key to every game for us. I prefer a Junior with 4-6 assists, 0-2 turnovers, and 4-6 points. I don't think we need him to be a scorer. We need him to take care of the ball, and dish it out when he can. When he tries to score is when he turns it over.

Home court advantage can vary depending on the team(s). The home court advantage at the Kohl Center might be 15. The advantage at the Arena (for UWM) might be 2. The average might be around 4 or 5.
That said, giving Florida +10HC in Gainesville against MU seems a tad bit high, but it's probably in the vicinity.

Fraschilla and Dave Pasch.
Interesting fact in ¨MU is 75-7 since 2008-09 when out-shooting its opponent from the field.¨ and that we are only hitting 37% from the 3 point line.
If win the TO, REB, FT columns then we have a chance tonight

You must like hearing about MU's "junk-yard dogs"
Too bad MU doesn't have any international players, as Fran has become the foremost expert on Euros.

Haha didn't mean to quote that. Was just referring to the game.
I do like games Fran calls, but I agree, he always uses that term for MU.
Home court advantage for handicapping varies widely in college hoops. Attached is a link to prediction machine's analysis from the 2011-12 season (2/16/12). The University of Denver led the way with a home court advantage of 10.9 points. At the bottom was Northern Florida in 345th place with a negative home court advantage of (2.7). Marquette was #236 with 2.6 points and Florida was #281 with 1.7 points. FWIW Bucky was #6 with 7.9 points. Of course, everything is subjective.

MU coming out with their pants around their ankles cause they're going to get spanked.
Hope I'm wrong but don't see it happening against Billy D. and his crew on their floor.
Really - if Wisconsin loses to Marquette, they are out of the tourney? - is this some sort of early season play-in NCAA game?
Far too early to say stuff like this...

It actually is a game that neither team can afford to lose. They both have not beaten a good team at this point. They both have several teams in their conference that are better than they are.
