Title: Gainesville PreGame Party
Post by: Skatastrophy on November 27, 2012, 12:41:12 PM
I've got a group heading to The Swamp in Gainesville at 5pm, and then walking over to the stadium around 8:30 if anyone would like to join us.  We'll be the ones in Blue and Gold!  Can't wait to see you there!

I looked into a Pre-Game meetup and there wasn't one I could find.  If there's a more official one scheduled, let me (us) know!

I looked into it and it looks like the Marquette Club of FL (https://www.facebook.com/groups/34255301855/) didn't bother to take this opportunity to set something up (though I doubt any of them actually live in Gainesville).  I have a meeting for the next hour, but when I get back I'll put something together.

10-4.  I have a group of 3, including a 5 year old, so somewhere at least pretending to be a restaurant would be great.  Swamp has really good food in case you hadn't been there.

The Swamp sounds good, then, I'll give them a call.  Thanks for the heads-up!  I have only ever been in the JAX area :)

I called them, they have tons of space.  To rent a room it's $250, plus $50 bar set-up and $50 an hour for a bartender... so we are not doing that!

I'll edit my OP, but I'll be at The Swamp starting around 5pm.  I'm going to try and sit on their patio because It'll be nice and warm outside.  I'll be the guy with his wife, both dressed in ridiculous Gold :)

Good call, no need to reserve a room for what I am guessing is a very small group. We will likely see you there.

Just realized it is a 9pm game.  Don't think the family will be there, but I will see everyone at the Swamp.

Just have to decide about buying my ticket now, or waiting until I am in town.

Yeah, it was an 8pm game that ESPN bumped to 9pm.  Way past my bed time!

I recall receiving an email about a pre-game party at Gainesville CC. I think it was sent to alums living in FL.

Could you copy and paste the email when you have a chance?  I don't want to draw from an official MU function.  I just want to meet some alumni while I'm I'm town!

Edit- nevermind,  that country club is way out of the way.  I'd rather hang out near the arena and see the sights :)
