I wish we would have faced the Tar Heels. In today's MSU game Jimmy Dykes said he thought MU had a chance to win the whole tourney when it started!
Good old fashioned ass kickin' goin' down.

Go Butler, beat UNC and watch our SoS soar!
On another note, Columbia University is up 10 over Villanova with less than 6 minutes left. Columbia has not had a winning record in the Ivy League in at least 5 year!
Nova picking up where they left off last year ... a disaster?
Maybe Brad Stevens to Texas?

Or IU if Butler beats UNC and IU loses to Georgetown in about 2 hours.
For the people who were CERTAIN we couldn't beat UNC feel free to come out of your shell.
When you have multiple players who can drill three-pointers it's really a game changer! Didn't NC watch the MU game tape? MU is vastly underrated! If we keep improving we can go deep in the tourney!
UNC will win this game. 14 aint that big of lead in College Hoops against a major team.
But if any team can hold on to a lead and not be scared by a big time team it is Butler

now 17 at half.
As many stated yesterday, Butler is a really bad team...
up to 20...

Still here.... MU can't shoot the 3 like Butler can. No way MU would be in this game right now without multiple threats from the perimeter.
up 26, 52 - 26

This afternoon we shot 7-11 from behind the arc
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketball/ncaa/men/gameflash/2012/11/20/84212_boxscore.html
with 13 minutes left in the game, Butler is 7 for 19 from behind the arc.

... so you were saying???
Apparently you haven't been watching the last 12 seconds of the game.
(Edit for clarification -- Butler's two consecutive threes from Novak-range)
(Further edit --- Comparing MU's performance against Miss St to Butler's against UNC isn't even apples... it's apples to laundry machines)
Man, what a weird Maui tourney.

Now 9 for 21 from behind the arc

Last time I checked we used the same three point line as Butler.
Three point shooting is comparable, its all about catch and shoot behind the line, with an open look. It doesn't matter if the opposing team is Mississippi State or the Heat, if you get an open look, it's all the same.

To say there's "no way" Marquette would even be "in the game" with UNC right now is pretty ridiculous. Results against common opponents does not mean much, but both UNC and MU did the same thing to MSU and MU lost on a prayer to Butler while Butler is crapping on UNC. To say that MU wouldn't have a chance against UNC is silly.

Agreed, but these games aren't played in a vacuum. A big part of Butler's lead has been made possible by UNC making a lot of mistakes, partially due likely to the fact that they aren't used to playing down by 10 points (much less 15-20). And the lead was made possibly largely due to the fact that Butler's deep threats (regardless of percentage) have spread the defense and opened passing and driving lanes for Butler.
In short... Butler is matching up quite well against UNC. I don't believe MU would have had the same advantage(s).
I wish I were Brad Stevens' agent.

Communist!
I dont care that UNC might/will lose tonight. They are ridiculous from an athletic standpoint. They will be VERY good come March.
Happy to cheer for my second favorite team. And happy to get the RPI boost.
Aint over yet BU by 6 with 1:06 left.
Go F-ing Butler!
Thought Tokoto would never sniff the court at UNC, aina?
what time do we play tomorrow?

Hold that thought ... right now UNC is playing 13 to 15 a game. Tokoto is 9th or 10th in terms of minutes. Let's see how many minutes he gets when conference play starts.
So by the associative property of college basketball, butler beating UNC means we're actually quite good. ;)

Butler is going to be ranked next week, especially if they win the tourney tomorrow. So, our loss is now a quality loss to a ranked team!
10 pm in London
4:28 in Kenosha.
This is why I wanted UNC. They are young and strictly getting by on one player and athleticism. Come March, they'll be a different team, but it's not March yet.
The two best teams in Maui played in the first game.
Kinda makes our game vs Butler look good, we took em down to the wire, and they had to muster literally everything they could to beat us... (near perfect last several minutes and a last second miracle shot)
If Buzz is worth 2 mil, how much is Brad worth next spring?

Brad's had offers coming in for years now and has been turning them down. I'm sure Illinois offered him more than that.

Illinois woulda paid him more than that to coach the football team.

Kinda makes you wonder why NC is rated so high.
Oh, its NC.
I still think a team that really pressures Butler will beat them. They don't really have a point guard. They looked helpless at the end of the game when UNC started pressing all over the floor. I guess foul trouble kept us from employing that strategy more on Monday.
I really enjoy watchin' Butler play. I think their story is kinda neat along with Coach Stevens and such.

Had we pressed in the second half I think we would have won. Just don't pressure with the front court players.
Did anybody notice Brad's pants last night?

I did not. I was too busy checking to see what type of old, sweat-stained, ratty ballcap he might or might not be wearing.
It was fun, I thought Jay Bilas was going to have a stroke.
