Lots of worthy candidates. Gardner with the double-double, 15 points and 12 rebounds. Blue dominated the first half and led all scorers with 18 while chipping in 3 assists. Lockett with a nice all-around line, 13 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, and 1 steal. And Jamil with 11 points on 80% shooting, with 4 rebounds and 4 blocks to go with it.
My vote goes to Gardner. Blue was fantastic, but the big man was steady in the second half and kept MSU from getting back into the game. Not sure you can go wrong with almost anyone today, though.
Blue!
2 games in a row for this dude. He's on fire.
Vander set the tone...gotta be him
Vander Blue.
Blue
Main reason I didn't say Blue was because of Jim McIlvaine. No one deserves player (or in this case stud) of the game if they didn't get a single rebound ;D
I like Gardner's 15 and 12
Gardner. Double-double.
Vander has exceeded his play last two games and must be a great feeling for him. Hope he has one more in him and makes all tournament team.
i gotta go w/ vander.
I like Gardners 15/12, but I vote for Vander. He keeps playing like this and he will carry us. He's having the biggest offensive improvement over last year at a time when we really need someone to step forward on O. (Partial extra credit given for yesterday's unrewarded effort).

Vander Blue

13lue.
Like JMac would agree.. you need a rebound to be considered stud.
Gardner.
Gardner
actually had a chance to watch the game today. Gardner was sleepwalking a good part of the first half but came on with a great all around game. I thought Lockett was solid to start the game and set the tone on offense. However, Vander had another strong game on both sides of the ball. He is such an excellent defender and always seems to be in the right place on the floor. His slashing creates shots for others and if he can continue to drain the 16-18 foot jump shot...look out. Vander for SOTG but I couldn't really argue if it went to Gardner.
Taylor looked a little more active today with a lot more focus and hustle....and I am happily surprised to see Ferguson contribute and not look lost out there...very promising. Jake Thomas clearly is not your average walk on to scholarship story...if he can hit those open threes consistenly, it will add a fantastic dimension to the offense. Good all around rebound game against a very limited and battered opponent.
Hope we get USC and Kevin O'Neill tomorrow just for interest.
Vander...because I'm counting yesterday as well.
Vanders hittin shots! Loved his game these last 2 days---My Vote: Vander
Gardner. Double-double is more impressive than being the leading scorer (by 3 points)
Vander - His perimeter shooting was huge today, and makes things easier for Davante down low...plus Blue's shots weren't point blank like Davante's.
Veezy V, aka Vander Blue
Blue
VANDERRATED!
Davante.
blue velvet
Vander. Cause he got robbed yesterday.
Loved Jamil's energy, Gardner's second half and Lockett's steadiness, but Vander really played confident and in control almost the entire game. If he hits shots like that, he will be a stud ... period.
Vander Orange gets my vote.. Nice game again.
Vander should get the nod.
Blue was the straw that stored the drink today. Gardner was great but Blue was on fire!
Jake Thomas. 3-3 from long range. That is why you are here. Good job.
Blue
If you don't vote Vander, you are a racist from the chat.
You're my boy Blue.
Great game for my man Davante.
With that said, definitely Vander. Wow.

Well put. Without yesterday its between Blue and DG. Yesterday's game makes the choice easy - Blue. (not that this board is a democracy or anything.... ::))
Vander, and in my opinion it isn't even close.
Gardner
The real stud of today is TomW1365 for causing me to stare at his post for a good minute........thank God for Kate Upton

Is that who that is? In that case, I vote Kate Upton for stud-ette of every game from here on in. ;D
Gardner
I voted Vander but I do want to point out that Jake had the second highest recorded Orating game in 16 years of keeping efficiency stats. A ridiculous 533! I could be swayed.

Vander the straw
Has to be Vander Blue.
Vander. Should be two for him.
Vander
Period.
End of story.
13lue!
With tongue in cheek, Buzz said "We don't count Gardner's rebounds when he shoots and hits the bottom of the rim only to get his own rebound." he did that 3 times yesterday, so it is not an official "Buzz double-double"
A lot of good choices though.
Will Vander have a shot at the all tournament team?

Gardner.
But if you listened to the postgame show, JMac gave the player of the game to Blue anyway. He made an exception to his rule.
Blue.
Would like to see a crooked number in the rebound column tho.
Even though the box score tells me Gardner, I didn't actually get to watch the game so went with the popular vote for once :)
Blue it is.
Rocky
Nice call. Seems like everyone is much happier with VB and hope it continues.
The first game Vander did not do anything to irritate me. Absolutely his best game ever at MU.
I watched the DVR'd copy of the 1st half last night and have to say...Vander's confidence seems to be growing out there in Maui. Man, I hope he becomes that go to guy that Jimmy became, and Jae became last year.
It's been stated before on this board but we usually have that one guy step up and lead the team and I hope it's Vander...he deserves it.
My one gripe about the game was our rebounding...man we got beat up on the glass by MSU.

It was really a tale of two halves. Blue was dominant in the first half, Gardner was dominant in the second half. But after Clarke killed Van's SOTG award Monday, I don't think anyone could find fault giving it to him for a second straight solid effort.
Could this tournament be like Wade's Great Alaska Shootout for Blue?
Hopefully closer to that end of the spectrum than Amo's Great Alska Shootout...
Wade's Alaska Shootout performance will never be touched. However, this could be Vander's coming out party. Really hoping for the trifecta from him to keep that confidence going.
Can we get get an updated pic for our SOTG? He's 13 now!

I'm so glad someone pointed that out. He looked good until he got into foul trouble, but I hope he gets more shots, we need him to.
It's a tough one for me, but I would say Davante because of rebounds but I can understand why so many would pick Vander. Hopefully he stays consistent!
