MSU Scouting Report: Woeful Bulldogs lack depth and experience
Written by: Mark Strotman
The bad news from yesterday, of course, was Rotnei Clarke's 30-foot, running one-hander at the buzzer that knocked Marquette from the winner's bracket of the Maui Invitational. The good news, however, is that the Golden Eagles will face one of ... Continue reading → (http://painttouches.com/2012/11/20/msu-scouting-report-woeful-bulldogs-lack-depth-and-experience/)

Disagree that the good news is facing one of the weakest BCS teams. There is no good to facing a team this bad in a tournament like this. You come here for quality opponents, and the one opponent expected not to be quality (Chaminade) is D2 and doesn't impact RPI, win or lose.
Anything less than a 20-point win today would be a massive disappointment. We should be much better than this team. Much, much, much better.
I almost prefer this victory to watch us get walloped by UNC again. I don't think I would be able to handle that again. It was nice to get revenge on Washington last year, hopefully we can get a win at Florida...idk if we will but hey it would be nice.
I'll take a sure win over a likely sure loss in UNC all day. Would have been nice for Marquette to get their W against Butler and play with some house money, but at 0-1 it's better to play a nobody and have the chance to go 2-1.

A win over Butler likely would have meant a quality win at the end of the year. The expectation would be a game with UNC (nothing to lose) and a possibility at another top-100 win against Illinois or Texas (again, the expectation going into yesterday). Either team would improve our RPI, and I'm pretty sure a loss to UNC would be better for our RPI than a win against MSU would be, come the end of the year. That's how bad MSU is.
