.
Stopped by the MU camp this week. FWIW...Trend is going to summer school and is working out with the team. Players on campus working out are Hazel and Christopherson, DJ, Burke,Lazar, Acker, Wes, McNeal, and Fitz. Ooze is in Africa and Cubi is in Venezuela with the national team. My guess is at this point is Trend will be with the team and not Saunders. Other guys I saw working out with the team were Mjax, RoJax, Joe Chapman, Scott Merritt, others but I am drawing a blank. Spoke to a buddy who is a complete insider and he said Mbakwe was 100% in. Apparently will arrive shortly.
Good info. Thanks.

If true,
great news. Also at this point, it certainly does seem like Saunders is on the outside looking in.
Nice to see all the former players helping out.
Also, hopefully the news is true about Mbakwe. Saunders is not in a good situation right now and if Trend is still with the team and enrolled in summer classes, it looks like we have found the likely solution to the scholarship situation.
insiders had moved Saunders up to 22 in his position, and 4 star...
ahead of Mbawke.
hate to lose such (seeming) potential to a stupid teenager gaffe.
Love hearing the former players are there too. Would be nice if Ooze was there just so he could work on his game w/ Jackson.
Couldn't agree more TVDirector. Without much knowledge of him but just reading a few things when he committed, I was (as Homer would say) cautiously optomistic about him. I did, and still do, think he will be a very good player, whether that's at Marquette or elsewhere.

I'm not buying that assessment. Saunders is an offensively bankrupt player who's potential lies as a defender and maybe a rebounder (but not against the 4). At best, he'd be a good role player on the wing after a few years in the program.
Is this based on stats or have you seen him play?

Saw him play. Very athletic kid.....no offensive repertoire. He can get into passing lanes, looked like a good offensive rebounder, putbacks, etal
Saunders has plenty of upside----has the ability to acquire an offensive repitriore----plays taller than 6' 7"!
he could be a diamond in the rough
think he'll be on the Warriors roster?

I don't think the gaffe will get him. I'd hate to lose the potential simply because he lost the numbers game.

That'd be US Open-quality rough.
Based on some of the SFs that MU is recuiting for the 08 class (Swopshire, Goulbourne), TC looks to have the bases covered with upgraded talent anyway.
So what if DS wasn't caught w/ weed? Then what would we be doing with our scholarship situation?

That's why Crean planted it on him. ;)
I feel a little sorry for Damien for not having a scholarship. I don't know how strong a promise Crean made in regards to getting him a scholarship. I just hope this doesn't hurt us in the eyes of future recruits. Maybe Trend will make an impact if even for only a year.

Just to be clear - the scholarship situation has
not been resolved. It's pure message board speculation that Saunders is the odd guy out.
on the Warrior's roster.

Will he be on the Marquette roster is all anyone is asking
I admit I am bamboozlified on this situation. 84 days to Midnight madness .. first session of summer school is complete .. One guy needs to be cut loose. Now we're getting to the point that the guy without a dance partner needs to know what school he's attending in September. "Should be soon" is an understatement.
Great info. Any word on whether Trend has figured out where the cafeteria is???
