I expect a slow couple of days for MU Hoops (barring any Friday PR blunders). So what are your thoughts on how the season will go in regards to the SOTG? Some are starting to get a feel for the team after only 2 games - but a lot of questions remain. Will DG continue his efficiency? Will 13lue make an offensive jump? Do Lockett's skills translate to a more talented team? Will Mayo retun? Do we give a nod to a walk on for SOTG? etc. etc.
So here is my over/under board for 2012-2013 SOTG:
Anderson 4
Blue 4
Cadougan 4
Ferguson 1
Flood 1
Gardner 10
Lockett 5
Mayo 3
Otule 5
Taylor 2
Thomas 2
Dwilson 2
Jwilson 8
What says you?
Wow...you predict MU to go undefeated???

Slim's quite the dreamer.
I agree Gardner will probably get the most because this board is infatuated by a fat guy can score the basketball as well as he does. Plus, he may be our only form of consistent offense this year. Dylan Flood with 1? I'll take the under.
I'd put De'De' at 15 SOG's, and still take the over.
I'm taking Jamil as the end of the season leader by at least 2 games.
I'll predict that:
Ferguson
Thomas
Taylor
D. Wilson
Flood
Will all have zero SOGs

I'll bet the under on each of them and cash in big! Here's where I'd start them if I were "Vegas" and trying to have equal bets on over and under. Anderson and Gardner each bumped up a little bit knowing they each already have one.
Anderson 2.5
Blue 2.5
Cadougan 1.5
Ferguson 0.5
Flood Off
Gardner 6.5
Lockett 2.5
Mayo Off
Otule 2.5
Taylor 1
Thomas 0.5
Dwilson 0.5
Jwilson 5.5
If I were placing only one bet, I would take Cadougan over 1.5.
I'll take the under on all for the first set posted, except I'll go over on Lockett.

There's no way we beat Louisville without that monster game from Flood!
No SOTG is awarded in a game that's lost. So .. need to re-calibrate for about 18-22 Studs.

Not necessarily. I think the second set are pretty realistic, but the over/under number shouldn't be based on how many games Marquette will win but rather how many SOTGs would result in equal betting for each player. Sort of like how when you go game-by-game on kenpom.com, especially early in the season, the W/L total never matches the W/L total at the bottom of the screen.

That's a good set of lines. Going through it player by player it would be very hard to decide over or under for any of them. I think none of the 3 listed at 0.5 will actually deservedly earn a SOTG, but I could see any of them getting one in a blowout where there isn't a clear choice.
Based on those lines and forced to bet, I'd take the over on Cadougan. Every once in a while he just has everything rolling.
It's hard to do this as a whole because the bets are based on the outcome of each other and you would most likely bet individually individually but I'll give it a go. If I counted right, MU plays 34 games counting 2 BET and 2 NCAA games. Without even going game by game I'm saying 22-12, so it's based on 22 SOTG.
Anderson 2.5 - He's already got 1, but I'm still taking the under. 2
Blue 2.5 - Under. I think this board with vote elsewhere on close calls. 2
Cadougan 1.5- Over. He's starts at the most important position on the floor so if MU is going to win 22 games, I hope he can get at least 2. 3
Ferguson 0.5 - Under. He'll have a game or two that we want to give it to him but won't cause someone else will stuff the stat line much better. 0
Gardner 6.5 - Under. There's too many guys on this team that can contribute on any given night. 5
Lockett 2.5- Over. He's experienced and does a lot of things. 3
Otule 2.5 - Over. He's been good so far. I think he'll have a good year. 3
Taylor 1 - Under. Will have some good games, just never enough for the SOTG. 0
Thomas 0.5 - Over. He'll make a lot of threes one game to help us win. 1
Dwilson 0.5 - Under. I have a feeling though that he may be a victim of playing really well in a loss. 0
Jwilson 5.5 - Under. I think he's our most talented player and will be our most consistent once the season gets going but there will be guys that do more than him on a given night. 3

Those actually seem a little low to me. I think there will be more disparity in SotG this year and they will be more evenly spread out. I could see Anderson, Blue, Cadougan, Gardner, Lockett, and Otule all surpassing those lines.
My guesses based on Slack's line:
Anderson 2.5 - Under I know he has one, but I can't see him having a lot of lines like that.
Blue 2.5 - Over In each of his first two seasons, Blue had 2. I think he breaks that and gets 4, as there will be more opportunity with DJO and Jae gone.
Cadougan 1.5 - Over I'd be inclined to say way over. Like Blue, 2 each in the past 2 seasons, and I expect some senior leadership here, I'd guess 4.
Ferguson 0.5 - Under Not his time yet.
Gardner 6.5 - Under We have too much of a team for one guy to get that many. In the past 2 years, only Jae surpassed 5, and Gardner is no Jae.
Lockett 2.5 - Over This was tough...I think this will be close, I'd say 3.
Otule 2.5 - Under Not that I don't think he won't deserve more, but Gardner will outscore him and voters on this site frequently underappreciate defense.
Taylor 1 - Under Another tough call. Voters like giving it to the frosh when there's a chance, but my guess is by the time he adjusts to his new body and gamespeed, it'll be Big East season, meaning less opportunity.
Thomas 0.5 - Over Easiest call. He'll have a few games where his clutch threes are the difference, and people love voting for the walk-on underdog types.
Dwilson 0.5 - Over But not by much...I think he can eke 1.
Jwilson 5.5 - Under As I said for Gardner, only Jae has exceeded 5 in the past two seasons. Jamil's not there...yet.

I think you guys are still over rating Lockett. He will have many good games, but he will not likely be our best player 3 times this season.

With what he's already shown in terms of hustle and rebounding, I think any time he scores 15+ he'll be in the discussion. Pretty sure he'll do that more than 3 times.

Hah, and this is where all will fail. It's not officially the result of a vote, though we do appreciate well through-out threads about who should be SOTG. In conclusion, if I were you, I'd put it all on the over for Dwilson ;)
BUMP!

This is why I'm not Vegas. I think you guys would have made plenty of money on me. Seems I over valued the importance of rebounds this year.
Anderson 2.5 UNDER (1)
Blue 2.5 OVER (7)
Cadougan 1.5 OVER (4)
Ferguson 0.5 UNDER (0)
Flood Off OFF
Gardner 6.5 UNDER (5)
Lockett 2.5 UNDER (1)
Mayo Off OFF
Otule 2.5 UNDER (2)
Taylor 1 PUSH (1)
Thomas 0.5 UNDER (0)
Dwilson 0.5 UNDER (0)
Jwilson 5.5 UNDER (3)
