Title: Can we fill the open game on the schedule?
Post by: chapman on November 09, 2012, 07:26:04 PM
Doesn't seem likely we'll get a date, time, and neutral location to reschedule with OSU.  I know a couple years back St. Mary's was able to get a game in March scheduled on just a few days' notice when they were looking for wins to help their bubble.  Are there any teams (likely low majors) without a full schedule that we could bring to Milwaukee to fill the void on our schedule?  Or does a "no contest" count as having filled the schedule but just not played?  Looks like three weeklong gaps (not counting Christmas) that could allow for a game inbetween:

Dec 8 (Wisconsin) - Dec 15 (Savannah State)
Jan 5 (Georgetown) - Jan 12 (@Pitt)
Jan 19 (@Cincinnati) - Jan 26 (Providence)

There's a better chance of Crean drinkin' Snapple than reschedulin' this game.

Duh, that was not the question...!  MU now has an opportunity to add a game if possible.  Does not have to be tOSU.

Wasn't Snapple owned by Quaker, who also owned Pepsi back in the day?

Let's play a double header against Becky.

Espn ticker was saying it won't be rescheduled.

The freshmen operation from across town doesn't have a game between Jan. 5 and 12. I'd be willing to give them a shot to beat MU again this year. Not sure if they're at the game max, though.

Or in another case would it be permissible for UWM to cancel their game with non-D1 Ohio Dominican and use the slot to play a buy game at the BC?  Seems like it would benefit everyone but the non-D1 team, and even then they'd probably get some money out of it.

PepsiCo owns Frito-Lay, Quaker, Tropicana, and Gatorade, in addition to other brands.  Snapple is owned by the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group.  PepsiCo also does half of the domestic bottling of Dr. Pepper outside of Texas.

This might be a grand opportunity to bring a low D-1 into the AL to raise money for charity.  I'd support something like that wholeheartedly.  I have no idea if it is possible but making lemonade is always a positive.
