As Dodds had posted on the Scout site, this is somewhat encouraging news. Everyone knew that Mbah a Moute was a mentor to Embiid, but what I didn't know is that the Milwaukee Buck was so heavily involved in his recruitment.
One would think that this would have to bode well for MU.
Lock it down this weekend Buzz.

Shortened link doesn't work (at least for me)...here it is

Thanks Forever. Updated link.
As far as playing time goes, does anyone know what that looks like at the other schools listed? It doesn't appear that any of them have a major road block for Embiid.

I believe if Embiid commits, Otule won't stay for the 6th year.
Can Buzz and the staff talk to Mbah a Moute or is that not legal? I'd think it would be like talking to an uncle or something along those lines.

Far too many variables right now. Do all 6 recruits qualify academically? Does someone transfer either closer to home or for more PT? Does someone declare (wise or unwise) for the draft? I could very easily see one or all three of those happening.
I'm also going to go ahead and take a guess that when he narrows his list down to three it will be MU, KU, and Florida.

Virginia got a top 100 big this year, 6-11 227 lb. Mike Tobey. They also have two other 6-8 guys in their freshman class, and two 6-8 upper classmen who would be a sr. and jr. when Embiid enrolled.
Texas got two top
100 60 centers this year as freshmen, top 10 Cameron Ridley and Prince Ibeh. Count Texas out.
Kansas is in on every highly ranked, but uncommitted PF in the 2013 class. I don't know if they've even offered Embiid yet. They also have 6-10 240 lb. Landen Lucas and 6-9 240 lb. Zach Peters in this year's freshman class.
Florida might actually need size more than Marquette does. 6-9 240lb soph. Cody Larsen hasn't done much.
6-10 240lb Erik Murphy is a sr. And 6-9 250lb jr. Patric Young may be going to the NBA. For 2013 they have 6-10 195lb tenth ranked Chris Walker coming in, and (like Kansas) they are still in the hunt for 6-9 225lb Julius Randle. Embiid has said he is friends with Walker. Florida also has a good history of getting bigs to the NBA. Finally, Florida is the only part of the US that Embiid knows. So, Florida is definitely the biggest concern.

And the fact he attends high school in Gainesville.

Not to mention, Florida is close to home...so there's that playing against us. On the other hand Mbah a Moute is right in embiid on his decision, so that is another plus.
I'm confused? According to this board, his articles are only negative and his sole purpose in the world is to destroy MU basketball by spreading false information?

None of his suitors are actually "close to home". He has only lived in Gainesville for the past year. When he's there, he's 6,309 miles away from home. When he visits Milwaukee, he's 6,498 miles away from home. I doubt that extra 200 miles will matter much ;D

I was thinking about the same thing. Mbah a Moute (do we have to spell out his entire name every time?) is coming across more like a parental guardian in his recruitment. If that's the case, I wouldn't see why Buzz couldn't (and most importantly wouldn't) reach out to the Milwaukee Buck.
Florida has proximity (along with great talent/coach), and Kansas is a blueblood. Why couldn't MU play one of its cards - having M a M (there...that's the abbreviation I'm going with) playing in the same city, to its advantage?
I think we land him. Everything I heard is he likes Milwaukee, MU and Buzz.

I like this confidence, even though I still carry my Napoleon complex for MU big men... Maybe I am a bit out of the loop (and don't take this as a questioning your "sources," etc) but where have you seen/heard this info lately? More just for my own sake because I want to read the articles (if there are any). Regardless, good stuff if that's where it is at!
I, too, hope we land Embiid (how is that name pronounced, by the way?) but don't put any stock in anything Woelfel writes. That guy is wrong more often than a broken clock.

Unless you're 7' tall, you're always going to feel like Napoleon around big men.
Mbah will be big reason why we land him IMO. Have very good feelings about this.

Interestingly, Napoleon was actually normal size for his era.
