Damn... Was hoping he was going to survive the cut. Best of luck if he is indeed headed overseas!
He's still listed on the roster as of this morning.
Looks like he'd be joining Manny Harris.
Paint Touches just tweeted that DJO is still listed on the roster and the Lakers are at 15 players, which is the NBA limit. Maybe he made the team after all?
The Ukraine's a road apple.
Cosmo Kramer
You know what the Ukraine is? It's a sitting duck, a road apple, Newman. The Ukraine is weak. It's feeble. I think it's time to put the hurt on the Ukraine.

They cut Goudelock. However, I have a feeling they ditch DJO and go with 14. Hope I'm wrong.
DJO is cheap insurance.
And an explosive player to lose.
That part of Ukraine is not exactly the world's garden spot! I have been nearby, in Lugansk and here's hoping DJO's stay is short until he makes the NBA.
Regardless, it will be an eye-opener, I promise.
Yeah when the Wikipedia page for the city features this photograph...

...you know it will be an "experience."
Kinda looks like Gary....on a good day.
Just curious. How do U.S. players get selected for European teams? Do they have a draft, do they line up and make offers? Is it like free agency, where the player goes to the highest bidder? Are there multiple leagues, with their own rules on how players are acquired?
The Ukraine?! DJO needs a new agent.
Chicks are hot in the Ukriane. The Beatles knew what they were talking about.
The Ukraine is cold and everybody has guns and it smells like soup.
This thread is idiotic. At worst, DJO gets stashed in the D-League.
What I've read is DJO may make the Lakers. Good luck, DJO!

Why? It was a rumor reported by multiple sites.
The Lakers opening game is Tuesday. I'll assume that if DJO is still on the team Monday night, he'll open as the 15th man on the roster. Let's remember that the Lakers paid $500,000 to get DJO's rights. I believe he sticks in part because more often than not MU guys have proven to be solid contributors down the road. It's not as if they need the roster spot at this juncture. Why would one give up on him so early when he occupies a seat at the lowest possible price?

sounds like just north of MU's campus.
From the 10th floor of Schroeder, a south wind was the tannery. An east wind was from ambrosia chocolate. A north wind was Pabst.
It's Ukraine, not THE Ukraine...
That is all.
Lakers cut Goudluck to keep DJO but don't typically keep 15 on roster. fingers crossed that he stays
Conflicting Reports.... sounds more promising for DJO

Those quotes have some negativity, but as long as he keeps working hard he should be fine. January is a long ways away though. Who knows what will happen if the team gets off to a slow start and wants to add a body - or if injuries require another addition.

Injuries I think would help him a lot... and that team is OLD.
Injuries might not help him if there are players that the Lakers value more on the open market. From reading those quotes, it is clear that they have no expectations that DJO can help them this year.

Concur. If they need a 15th roster spot for a guy filling in because of injury DJO becomes expendable. My sense is that the Lakers are willing to pay his NBA minimum wage salary only to the extent that his seat isn't needed.
The article clearly suggests that DJO would have needed to be released over the weekend for purposes of the 48 hour waiver wire. He'll be on the official roster submitted today seemingly for sure. Congrats DJO!
So my math says that's 7 Marquette players in the league. I know it was discussed long ago but I can't recall the last time this happened. Certainly not since the 70s.

DJO effectively made the Lakers. Congrats, DJO!

Correct. Hopefully someone picks him up. The good news is that he's still getting his paycheck.

Lakers, especially under Phil Jackson, don't use rookies as a rule . DJO has a chance to work hard and improve. Good Luck to him
I don't know if you follow the NBA, but Jackson ain't coached the Lake show for over a year.
1...2...3... pin
On a positive note DJ dressed and stepped on the floor for the first time tonight (literally - 1 minute). Hopefully with Brown GONE either Dantoni or Jackson or whoever will at least let him dress and give him a shot.
