1. Nike has special camouflage jerseys for the eight teams participating in the military-themed games on Nov. 9 just like it did last year for Michigan State and North Carolina in the Carrier Classic in San Diego. Michigan State's Draymond Green made an impressive gesture when he led the team to give their jerseys to the troops on the USS Carl Vinson. The camouflage jerseys were a big hit with the players. All eight schools participating in the games are Nike-sponsored schools: Michigan State-Connecticut in Ramstein Air Base in Germany; Syracuse-San Diego State in San Diego; Florida-Georgetown in Jacksonville; Ohio State-Marquette in Charleston, S.C.

I just got back from a long weekend in Charleston, SC. The GF and I stayed at a hotel/resort basically next door to the USS Yorktown. Assuming the carrier stays in the same location, there isn't a whole lot of parking/access, but it couldn't be more picturesque. Also, it surprised me that this is an old carrier that's pretty tiny (not sure what MSU/UNC played on last year). A rather small Carnival cruise ship was docked in the city and dwarfed the carrier that weekend. The water around the ship was perfectly calm all weekend, so that's not going to be an issue, but there was a fairly stiff breeze almost everyday.
I'd encourage anyone to go visit Charleston - it's a beautiful place.

Actually, the ship is surrounded by whats called a cofferdam which is a bulkhead keeping the ship from being affected by water currents. So heavy waters should not affect the game. But, the wind could be a definite factor. Have been on the Charleston harbor and it is very windy there.

I'm moving there in December and I'm unfortunately gonna miss this game. I ran into the alumni president for the Marquette Alumni Carolina's chapter and I know she's got a good contingent of people headed to the game. I wanna say the carrier is docked over by Ise of Palms which is an incredible area of Charleston.

We stayed in Mt. Pleasant, which I would assume is where the carrier is - more specifically the carrier is at a location called Patriot Point. I believe it is just south of Isle of Palms.

The wife and I are gonna live in Mt Pleasant right off of Long Point Rd. Regardless, anyone who goes down there needs to stop by Poe's for a burger and a beer before the game.

Growing up in Kenosha it was a great place. As a kid you could get anywhere with your bicycle. Nowadays kids need to be chauffeured everywhere. It is a convenient place to live.
As for Charleston, if you can't have a fun weekend there you must have your mind made up to have a bad time. For anyone that gives a hoot about USA history, Charleston is right up there with the best.
