We're referred to as "Marquette Virginia" because it is too difficult to proofread articles these days.
Buzz and his staff have probably worked harder than any other staff in trying to sign Joel Embiid, but it's hard to say how good a chance MU has. This is kind of a test to see how hard it is to recruit to MU when going against top 10 programs.
I don't think the writer understands the meaning of the word "forthcoming", as his visits to Texas, Kansas, and Virginia are all now in the past.
I would be ecstatic if we could sign him away from the south.
I would be ecstatic if we could sign him period.
Nothing new in the article including the clips of Embiid playing.
Does anyone know if his decision timeframe is public?
JoJo appeared to have really enjoyed Kansas, but seems like Self isn't making Embiid a big priority at this point.

Funny, I found out about the Gold nickname change in a similar way... I thought it was a typo, but that turned out to not be the case.
Perhaps we really are the Virginias now... evidently, that must be the plural of virgin. If so, I think we're going to offend a whole bunch more people with that lie than Warriors ever did.

Well, back in the day, Illinois and Wisconsin were a part of the Virginia Territory. MU just returning to its roots under the new admin.

Only claimed by Virginia...never acknowledged by the crown. (They were both partially claimed by Massachusetts and Connecticut as well.)

I think only Northeast Ohio was claimed by Connecticut and it was refered to as the Western Reserve. (See the name of the university - Case-Western Reserve.) There are a ton of city & town names that were named for their Connecticut brethren and NE Ohio is the only place I've been outside of New England where the towns had a Green (or Common for the Boston folk).

The randomness of this thread, while also remaining remotely on topic, represents everything that is great about Scoop...so much so that Scoop deserves to add a new server.
Thanks Mod Bois!
