Is it bad that I graduated 10 years ago but still don't like the MU soccer team because all but one of the soccer players I knew as a student were complete and total d-bags? Has that changed at all over the years?

Is this the highest ranked in any sport MU team since 1978?

A fellow grad and good friend of mine was on the team. I'm a really big fan of most of the kids, all really nice and gave a good effort when I was tutoring/TAing them.

Tony Davis and Dean Marquardt were jerks 30+ years ago. Therefore I still don't like MU basketball.

Can't blame him. I hated the LAX Club players because they always carried their sticks on campus. Hard to be all in on this LAX team.

I'll go back 30 years to say they were good guys!

Road trip senior year in high school (what were the parents thinking?); 4 of us drove to Milwaukee/Chicago from St. Louis to "visit" schools one weekend); December of '81 the weekend before finals.  We arrived at McCormick where we had loosely arranged to stay with a guy from our high school who was on the soccer team.  Started playing "hi Bob" within minutes of arrival, hung out with guys on the soccer team that night and 3 of us wind up going to MU.

Number 2 in the country. That is ridiculous!

Yes, according to JSOnline.  MU last achieved a #1 or #2 national ranking in ANY sport after Hank's guys beat Xavier in February 1978.  That's before some on this board were even born.

(Translation.  Go to a freakin' game yet this Fall.  They've earned it.)

As a walk on on a Marquette team that lost to Wisconsin-Green Bay 9 to 0, I feel pretty good about this.

Didn't the soccer team have their own Hiroshima in the past year with coaching turnover?

Looks like the team has adjusted well!

Nice article on their success in the JS.  Looks like they set the standard for mens BBall this year.  ;D

I believe one of the assistants quit/got fired. somewhat of a hiroshima.

i think the bigger hiroshima was before last year when bennett had been here quite a while and hadn't yet produced any real on field success. I guess that goes to show you've got to give coaches time to get their players and instill their system before making any judgments. i suppose that's some sort of commentary on sports when FB/BB coaches get fired after 1-3 years before they've had any real chances.

Looks like Marquette just beat Northern Illinois, 1-0, to remain unbeaten going into their game at #10/14 Georgetown this weekend.

I tried to find the rankings and a google search  turned up this

In this ranking we are #4.

Which ranking has us #2?

Golden panthers? ouch.

Is the Big East more dominant in Men's Soccer than Men's Basketball?
Consider this week's poll:

4. (8)- MARQUETTE (12-0)
5. (1)- UCONN  (11-1-1)
6. (9)- NOTRE DAME (10-3)
7. (3)- GEORGETOWN (11-2-1
15. (12)- ST. JOHN'S (8-1-4)

HONORABLE MENTION-
Louisville (7-4)
South Florida (6-2-4)

Side note - this poll says #4, like I noted above.  Where is the poll that says #2?

Even more impressive for the Big East

2. Marquette (11-0-0) 7
6. Connecticut (10-1-1) 2
7. Notre Dame (10-2-0) 10
13. SMU (7-2-2) 25
14. Georgetown (10-2-1) 9
18. St. John's (8-1-4) 16
23. USF (6-2-4) 20

It's very possible that I was/am a d-bag...although, I definitely wasn't the kind who'd laugh hysterically when my buddies would purposely knock a beer out of a stranger's hand (including females) nor would I find it hilarious to shout racial slurs at homeless people nor would I...well, you get the idea.

Georgetown vs. Marquette rematch in the Big East Semifinals this Friday. Game time won't be announced till after tomorrow's Uconn Villanova quarter final. That being said I'm pretty positive our game will be the undercard to a #6 v. #7 Uconn v. ND game. Pretty crazy when #4 Georgetown v. #10 Marquette is the undercard. Sick semifinals and crazy that all 4 teams are from the same division.

Can't believe none of these games have been televised that I've found. Would love to watch Friday, especially if it was a matinee before the basketball game.

yeah semifinals and finals will be on CBS college Sports network.

I hope we're the 5:30pm game so it doesn't over lap with the basketball or in your case overlap too much.

More bad news tonight for Marquette.

Hoyas knock of marquette in the BET Semifinals 2-1 in double overtime.
