"Jabari Parker spending Midnight Madness at Marquette with teammate Steve Taylor but not considering the Golden Eagles. Parker is a class act."

Maybe Steve can change his mind???

LW wouldn't allow it.
Parker named his final 5 today, MSU, Duke, Florida, Stanford, BYU.
He still has plenty of time, so maybe if he is shown serious love while there along with some convincing by Steve Taylor he will add us to his list, one can only hope.
He'll be sittin' right next to Kate Upton.
Everyone tweet him and make lots of signs. Kids love signs.

Show 'em somethin' different. Ride in on an ATV, wearing your best karate outfit, then, jump into the old hyperbaric chamber.
Smart kid. Comparative to his school list, MU is close for the easy drive and he can see how his buddy is making the transition up close.

I like it.
He isn't considering Marquette and nothing we do will change that. This is a tremendously classy move by a kid who has handled a very high-pressure recruitment with incredible savvy. How about we just let him enjoy the weekend, support Steve Taylor, and don't badger him since he's not considering us anyway.
We don't need him anyway.
This is still a big deal.
Agree with everything Brew said.
With that said, our chances go from zero, to somewhere north of zero. Lets not blow it by overkill.
With that said, every D1 school is suspicious/jealous of this, except for the schools on his list....and maybe even them.
Get him to Real Chili and he's ours. ;)

But if he is coming to madness it means he is probably a tad interested at least so why not try to get him? You never know what can happen.
Pilarz just signed an edict switching Marquette from Jesuit to Mormon.
It prevents Jabari from tipping his hand. We get excited when a recruit comes to MM and this way, he keeps all of his schools still in suspense and on equal footing.

Tremendously classy? Why? Cuz he goes to Milwaukee to hang with a high school friend? Just announce where you're going already, you know he's 99% sure where that is....but why not milk it and get everyone to talk about it for 4 more months.

Agreed, he's a 17 year old going to hang out with his college friend. I went to Michigan St. and U of M all the time as a senior in high school and had absolutly zero interest in attending those school, I was MU from the get go. BTW he's going to MSU

Yes, I have known MSU has been the favorite for awhile. Wherever he goes I'm just glad its not Kentucky.

I'm guessing you haven't followed this recruitment very closely, because Parker has played it much closer to the vest. He's stayed off Twitter, his family cancelled his cell and only gave the new number to one coach to manage the recruitment better, and he actually seems to be looking at schools with an emphasis on values and education, or why would BYU and Stanford still be on the list?
Anyone who's paid attention and doesn't realize that Jabari Parker is unlike pretty much any other top recruit you've ever seen is blind. And supporting a teammate and friend rather than "milking it" by going to one of his chosen 5 schools where he can be the center of attention all weekend is further evidence of that.
If I was Jabari I would be in Florida.
If it was me, I'd be at Stanford.
I don't get why anyone would want to play for MSU. Yes, Izzo is a great coach, but how many of his players are great NBA players, and MSU is the inferior state school.

The mormon mission he may go on may have a role in his decision. Stanford had a QB go on a mission and handled it terribly, and the guy left. And as of the past 3 or so years MSU is not the inferior school, they have been better in FB and BB.
anyone think it might not be best to have a top 5 kid on campus during mm who isn't considering mu when other recruits are around??? i guess every recruit knows he's not coming to mu anyhow, but it's almost like possible recruits are going to be at madness and reminded that somone as good as parker isn't interested in mu. perhaps it could make other recruits think that he's interested in us as well...

I think you are worried over nothing.
He seems like a smart kid, with a great supporting cast around him, and its pretty cool that he wants to see how his former
mate at Simeon is liking college and what he thinks, shows its not all about him. I mean, if I'm sick of hearing about his every move think how he feels.
If he isn't coming to be recruited, treating him like a recruit won't change his mind. No signs, no shout-outs would be the best chance to go from no chance to next to no chance.
He can always transfer later! :)
Enjoy the stay, Jabari!

Pretty sure he'll only transfer once, and the only chance of that transfer being to Milwaukee is if the Bucks have the #1 pick.
In terms of guest stars, this is bigger than when Crean got George Foreman!!!

That''ll probably win him over, you guys.

Foreman is my biggest memory from any madness. Simply, because he shook my hand as he walked by.The biggest hand I have ever shaken and it is not even close.

Show the kid some respect by letting him alone to enjoy his visit. The best thing to do would be to cheer loudly for Taylor and make sure he sees we love Taylor.

It's interesting that when Hards_Alumni says that Michigan is the better state
school, you respond that Michigan State is the better school because it has the better
men's football and basketball teams. Something I catch myself doing on occasion.

I assumed he meant sports wise, but if he didnt mean that then yeah Michigan is better than MSU.

I did mean academics. Plus East Lansing is kind of a boring dump.
