Seems like a dumb move to me. Thoughts?

You heard it here first.
Big North, South, East & West.
I'd like to submit this for consideration-

For short you can call the Big East BEAST. What would shorthand for Big Country be? :P

Bryant Reeves would be an awesome conference name.
Big 10 added two teams and is still the Big 10. I see no reason to change.
All they have to do is add a team from China and they can keep the Big East name.
Is Hawaii part of the Eastern or Western world? That could make things a lot easier.

Not only that, but the Big 12 lost two teams. Geographical inconsistencies are nowhere near as confusing as messing with basic counting, in my opinion.

I submit that they just add the extra B permanently to make it the Big Beast conference.
Keep the Big East name.

Bucky and Friends have proven to not be good at math.
**Edit: I only wanted to quote the first sentence of bilsu's post. That's what I get from posting originally from my phone >:(
The Big East as a brand is more important than it is an accurate descriptor. Keep it.

Agree. It's much easier to make a case around a name like "Big East" than it is "Big Ten" when said conference no longer has 10 teams.
What I find funny now:
Big 12 has 10 teams.
Big 10 has 12 teams.
I actually think the Big Ten did the smart thing by keeping its name too. The brand is more important.

That may be, but it gives us fodder to mock 'em! ;D
The Atlantic 10 Conference has 16 schools.
From the article: "The unintended consequences of adding new schools is that all of a sudden the Big East is a national conference," Bailey said. "It extends to four time zones in major markets. In one sense, it almost represents the United States in that diversity."
Too bad "Conference USA" is already taken.
I propose "The Big Motherfukcin' East".
Who gets the trademark if the conference abandons it? I might be for it if it allows the basketball schools to pick up Big East in five years.
The conference would still own it as long as they protected it.

What would that logo look like? ;)
The Big WEAST?
Big Coast to Coast conference?

The Big WEAST?
Haha, I like that. Taking it further...
The Big SNOURTHWEAST
Absolutely must change it. My choice:
Large East
"The League Formerly Known as The Big East"
El Big East? It would help us expand into a new demographic.

And we would just have some symbol.
C'mon folks ...
The Gold League.
Something similar worked wonders for Marquette ... for six days.
