We have been on and off with the recruitment of Clark. He is very good.

#1 Recruiting is fluid. It's a two way street. Sometimes the recruiter runs hot and cold......and sometimes it's the recruit.
#2 No word is gospel. Not word from the recruiter. Not from the recruit. Certainly not from a reporter.
#3 Sometimes guys no one ever heard of commit like a bolt from blue (i.e. we may act like we know what is or isn't likely, but we have NO idea)

Which is why this surprised me. I remember reading that article. Buzz must be really interested.

He doe not want to sign until spring, which makes him a good backup plan.
I think Clark is a tremendous talent, but would still put him no higher than 7th on a wish list, just ticking off a few names on my fingers. With DWx2 there just isn't a need for another 2013 PG.

I disagree and so does Buzz. He has been hot on trail of a number of SG this summer. Duane is more of a combo guard.

Have you seen the list of guys we are in on right now? Nunn, EC Matthews, Johnson, Jordan Matthews, and Williams are all 6'2" to 6'4" shooting guards. That's obviously where Buzz and the rest of the staff are focusing. The only other position we seem to be keying on is center. So you can disagree all you like, but if you're going to presume to speak for our coach, maybe look at the people we have been focusing in on and offering, because Clark is an outlier in terms of our current 2013 targets, which explains why he hasn't been listing us, why his mother doesn't seem to be getting any answer despite tweeting at Marquette's assistants to pay attention to her kid, and this is the only mention we've seen putting Marquette and Clark in the same sentence in the past six months.

Buzz has said he wants to recruit a point guard in every class. I don't necessarily disagree that a 2 is a higher priority, yet, I certainly don't think we'd ignore an in-home opportunity with a Top 100 Point Guard.
Furthermore - if the kids Mom has ben tweeting at MU to pay attention and get re-involved - I find that a positive, in that the family really wants the kid at MU...which it seems is also the case with Kendrick Nunn's Dad - yet Kendrick certainly doesn't seem to be sold just yet..and my tea leaves say Kendrick won't be coming to MU...

On August 21st, Kendrick said that he had a list of five schools and they all were even, so....... that leaves MU with a 20% chance of getting him. Your "tea leaves" certainly know how to play the percentages. My gut's a little more gutsy, so to speak. It says that Kendrick is coming to MU,
unless someone else commits to MU first, and takes his scholarship.

And he recruited Duane Wilson, so that's sorted. There's a reason that we are putting on a full court press for shooting guards, because that's obviously, blatantly, our top priority.
I like Clark. I think he looks solid. If DW decides to go elsewhere, I'd love to have him, but right now, SG is more of a priority, and the recruiting of the staff reflects that. And if we don't get Nunn, that's why we're in on Matthews, Matthews, Johnson, and Williams.
On another 2013 pg....6'4.

Is this Williams you speak of Kameron Williams?

I was disagreeing with you in that I believe a top 60 recruit with an in home visit would crack our top 7. Its absurd to say otherwise. Yes we've been hot on the trail of SG's all summer, and that is our most important need, but Buzz said many times that he wants 3 PG's on his roster. Do you trust Derek Wilson to lead this team his junior year? I think its a safe back up plan if Nunn or Kam Williams decide to go elsewhere.
I think we need a center much more than a point guard and to me it isnt even close. Besides the Wilson bros we can have Vander and Todd run the point which is a whole lot more experience than bringing in another freshman. After next season we don't have a single center so i think it would be wise to bring someone in and have them go against Chris and Devante everyday even if they never see the court. That way there is at least someone on the roster 2 years from now rather than relieing on a freshman or McKay who I think is too skinny to play the 5.

As opposed to two freshmen who have never played major college basketball? Yes.

Recruiting a center is important. The probelm Buzz has is does he sign a top 100 point guard or a center not ranked in the top 200.

It's not absurd at all. Most of the SGs are top-100 or just outside. Same goes for our other targets. I have confidence in Derrick as a junior, and also feel Blue will be able to provide many if not most of the minutes there, especially as right now we would expect to have Mayo, Jamil, Taylor, Anderson, Ferguson, and Burton available at the 2-3 positions.
I feel perfectly fine with a PG rotation of Blue and DWx2. If our needs were different I'd want him more, but C and SG are our biggest needs, and there are multiple names at both positions I prefer to a 4th point guard.

I trust him enough this year. I really think he'll surprise people.

You need to have a solid back up at point guard. Especially when it will be Wilsons first year starting. The depth that he would bring would solve this. Im not even worried about a center at this point considering someone has transferred out of the program every year under Buzz. Which I have no problem with as long as we keep getting better talent.
Somewhat of a typical Buzz recruit: beefy guard with 3 pt range.
The video of his 40 pt game was nice, but I had still one question. And this answered it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKKrjrVJbgU
He reminds me a little of Reggie Smith.
And I hope our luck with OK guards comes through this time!

Honestly, do you know enough about him to know that he would provide better depth than Duane Wilson? Or any of the other guards we are recruiting?

Your not getting what I am trying to say Sultan...I just don't know if I trust a freshman who has not proved anything, to back up a point guard who scored .6 points a game last year. However, having two point guards who could back him up will provide that depth. Especially on the offensive end. I am not worried at all about Derek's defense. I'm just saying its a possibility...I would rather have Nunn or Kam Williams.
How good is Kam Williams? Like Nunn

He lead the NIKE EYBL league in scoring this summer. Stevie Clark finished second in scoring. Other notables were Andrew Wiggins 5th and Duane Wilson 8th.
Here is a video of Kam Williams he ranks 52nd on ESPN for 2013. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2bCRHIM0Yw
