Cadougan scored 72 points in his game. AMAZING. His last game in a MU uniform he scored ZERO points in 21 minutes. I wish I could say that I'm super optimistic that he will really step-up in the scoring department....but fool me once....regardless, an impressive performance in any setting.

Ummmm.... does that really say he hit THIRTEEN threes in one game? That's more than he's made in his entire playing career at MU. Guess I'm cautiously optimistic that he'll become a credible threat from beyond the arc, which would totally open things up for himself and the entire team.
Looks like he worked on his stroke, looks like a quicker release or something. Most of those were uncontested jumpers however.
I would put money on Cadougan not being a better 3 point shooter next year than he was this past year. This is the Pro-Am, where defense is not the first priority and open looks are not exactly hard to come by. When Cadougan's high school team came up for a tournament at the Al his senior year of high school I went and watched him play. He made probably 5 3 pointers in the game and looked to score a lot. That caliber of play is not Big East caliber, and neither is the Pro Am. Any guard or forward (and even most centers) at the Division 1 level (any level) can knock down a wide open 3 pointer more often than they miss. I watched Trend Blackledge make 11 straight 3 pointers well behind the line while warming up before the Georgetown game his senior year. Trend Blackledge.
All that he did in his game yesterday was jack up 3s. No passing, nothing. Just shooting. Every possession.

what would make you think cadougan wouldn't improve upon his shooting from last year?

His job at MU is not to look to score, but to set up others. The only time he took 3 pointers was when the shot clock was running down. I could probably count on one hand the number of 3's he took when he didn't have to. This doesn't mean that he can't shoot. His shooting in High School, and examples like the pro-am, show that he can shoot if he wants to. He doesn't shoot because there are better scorers on the team, i.e. Crowder and DJO. I would not be surprised to see him look to shoot more this year if no one else can step up.

Junior has been working very hard on his three-point shot this offseason. I'm not saying he'll be lights out, but I think hitting in the 30-33% range is most likely. I would be shocked if we didn't see some improvement, and I'm not basing that on the MPA as I've not made it out this summer.

He looks better this year, but he also worked hard on his outside shot last off-season, and it didn't translate.

Improving from 15% to 24% on nearly 3x as many attempts didn't translate? Still not great but he put the work in and made great strides.

statistics support he did improve, but understanding you can use statistics to prove just about anything, the "eye-test" was even more impressive from 2 seasons ago to last year. he was much more comfortable shooting the three last year, and he was able to make his man honest last year. i don't ever expect to see him drill 3's off the dribble, but he'll keep his defender honest as he did last year. i do expect him to spot up for 3's this year on the rare occasions that he's not creating the offense himself and when he's not bringing the ball up the court off a miss.

I guess from an improvement standpoint, yes. I meant more along the lines of it being a significant tool in his arsenal.

i felt that by the end of the year guys could help off of him too much. previously they just had to recover to cut off the drive, but he hit open three's when he could spot-up. if he could continue to do this, and hit the 3 off the dribble when guarded rondo style, he'll do a lot to ensure the other guys have open lanes to cut or drive.
on a topic more in line with this thread title...stopped in for a bit today hoping to see steve taylor, was he not playing? then was hoping to see lockett who i didn't see warming up so i took off.
Seems like there were a lot of MU no-shows at today's pro-am.

Jake Thomas and Jamil Wilson showed up. They both scored about a third of their teams' points in the two championship games.

And that's with Jamil having had his right wrist/hand taped up all weekend. He's been filling it up while shooting lefty!
Cadougan showed up too. And D.Wilson showed up on Thomas' team along with Garrett Swanson. Everyone else failed to show up which really sucked.
I know Vander went back to Madtown to visit his mom and Davante had a flight to Virginia per Twitter.
