I got this link in an email from a fellow MUscooper with the subject "True Hate."
http://www.madtownbadgers.com/articles/basketball/marquettes-avalanche-of-jealousy-has-started-already.html
I know, I know, there are already more than enough reasons to hate the badgers, but I thought I'd share this pathetic article to give everyone one more.

Ehhh, who cares?
Really think most Badgers give a stink about this basketball "rivalry"?
What else are we supposed to do in the off-season?

Most of the UW-MU games at the BC has about 3,000 Badgers fans at the game. (Which is alot) MU still has 85% of the crowd. I hate where people come up with the 50/50 stuff.

UW has 15% of the crowd but at least 50% of the obnoxious A-holes.
Say it with some conviction Bocephys:

I laugh at this...hard!
QuoteIt's also pretty funny that they basically are assuming the Badgers will be in the Big Ten Championship game. Marquette fans know they can't top what the Badgers have done with their football program. They always shy away from the football talk, that is if they're not jumping on the Badger football bandwagon.
I don't think it is much of an assumption...they do realize of the 6 in their division two of the teams are ineligible to play in the B1G Champ game...and the others are Purdue, Indiana, and Illinois. If they aren't assuming they are going to the championship game, yikes!
I get pilloried every time I mention this, buuutttt,
There are many MU fans that enjoy Badger football. It is the only game in town if you like D1 football.
70 degrees, sunny Saturday fall afternoon. Just sayin.
That being said:
I was at the Badger bb game last year, great seats, with not another MU fan within 50 seats. Nothin better that walkin out of the Kohl hole that day, high fivin all the MU fans out on the concourse.

hahahaha that's so awesome. I'm actually jealous I wasn't there, too. I was on a trip to Steamboat Springs with a bunch of people, 20 or so of whom are diehard Badgers fans (only 3 of them actually went to UW, of course) and they all downplayed it because of whatever football game was on at the time. It was rather annoying.

I know, but my 1st college football game was Badgers vs. Northern Ill. in 1971, (Rufus the Roadrunner Ferguson), and my friends uncle was an OT and Kicker on the team, so I was doomed.
Am I the only one who thinks it's hilarious how UW holds their Football tradition as something unique? 1 National Championship in 123 years. Full disclosure I cheer for Michigan football.
As I posted in response to the article:
Big Ten Programs with more NCs than the Badgers:
Michigan (22)
Ohio State (14)
Nebraska (11)
Minnesota (7)
Penn State (7)
Michigan State (6)
Illinois (5)
Iowa (4)
I'm not exactly trembling in awe of UW's Football tradition
The attitude of UW football being anything special is hilarious to me and suggests someone who doesn't get out of the state much.

I'm actually pulling for them to go to the Rose Bowl... and lose it of course. In fact, I want to see how many consecutive Rose Bowl losses it will take for them to fire the coach.
If the Badgers had any intention of building an elite team, they would hire Jim Tressel today.

I mean I can handle and dismiss the fairly silly, erroneous claims such as the comparison of a MU basketball fan/UW football fan to being a Michigan football/OSU bball fan. I mean that's just flippantly stupid as is the overlooking of OSU and Penn state being not being in the picture next year for Big Ten Football.
BUT when he goes and mocks the MU band and our fight song, that's when I get pissed. Your feud is not with us, the band, of which I am a committed member. I greatly anticipate our team beating the living the crap out of the badgers at home, and me getting to watch it all courtside.
UW honestly has one of the most boring basketball teams to watch. Sure Bo Ryan coaches great defense, but come on! A game in the 50's where most of the baskets made are layups and 10 footers, is not my idea of an entertaining game. WE ARE MARQUETTE!!
Can i write an article about UW-Madison and politics on this board?

I am a known badger everything hater and I'm a little upset about giving that website another hit. Almost jealous? NO not in the slightest. I envy nothing about booger nation. I've been to the kohl hole and let me say that our fans have no right about our fans sitting on their hands during games because I've seen the PGA tour get louder than that place. They probably think it's disrespectful to the players that are trying to communicate to each other that there is only 3 seconds left on the clock so you better pass to some player MU passed on from port or a big shooter that won Mr BBall from some uncompetitive hick state to hoist a three. They have a commanding 6-5 lead in the series since the emperor took over which will be evened up this year and in all honesty i only care about the year before so to me the series is 1-0 us. I think Derrick Wilson said it best last year "Scoreboard Mother F*cker."

I remember my sister (who was freshman at Zero in March 2000) calling me in tears saying she was scared because people are going crazy on the streets in front of her dorm and the police were wearing gas masks. I asked her what was going on (thinking 1995 all over again), and she said it had something to do with the Badger basketball game.
I started laughing hysterically and hung up the phone... she has yet to forgive me.

I wrote that BEFORE the Penn State sanctions, and still had no idea about the odds of Bucky winning their division. I just went with the concept of "there's definitely no reason for Badger fans to be anywhere else, so they'll want tickets."
My favorite part was the Evel Knievel style logic jump from "Bucky fans won't be traveling to the B1G title game" to "Marquette fans cheer for Bucky football."

I am a 20 year old Marquette fan that doesn't go to Marquette, but have bought my own season tickets for 3 years now...(Hopefully Law School at MU haha)...Anyways...I am from Oshkosh and they are really bad with what Kenosha Warrior said.
I'm another MU fan who didn't go to school there. While in high school in the 60's, I fell in love with Al's band of misfits --a near-sighted 6-3 center, a guard with a two-hand setshot, a fat, 6-2 forward (sorry George), and a guy who went to little Dor-Abbey HS. Few games were on TV back then, so it was huge when the Warriors made it to the NIT finals against Southern Illinois. (Whatever became of that Walt Frazier guy?)
As a student in Madison a few years later, it was easy to stay a MU fan as the Badgers were really bad. I'd go to games to see Geoge McGinnis, Rudy Tomjonovich (sp?), Jo-Jo White and others, but never became a Wisconsin basketball fan (I do root for their football team).

1.UW-Zero
2.ULax

I would say that Whitewater, Green Bay and Milwaukee are pretty far down on the list as they either have just dominant D-3 teams or have their own D1 teams that have been successful
Don't go to school at Marquette but have loved them since Wardle suited up ( I'm young give me a break)and have always hated everything badgers. I've noticed an interesting trend where more and more kids are wearing Marquette apparel as opposed to badger gear. I mean young kids that are shooting hoops at the gym almost always decked out in Marquette stuff. It's certainly refreshing.
