He put three talented freshman on his back and let them develop. MU needed that first successful season in the BE because people were predicting that MU was going to struggle. It takes forever to alter an initial perception and Steve Novak ensured that MU's first season in the BE was noticed in a positive light.
I consider that season to be the second most important one in the history of post-1977 MU basketball.
Completely agree. I still believe his performance against UConn in that first Big East game is one of the top-3 by any Marquette player of any era. Not only for the jaw-dropping numbers, but the tone it set for that season and the ones to come.
