Ah, this is too good. I'll bid on it, but only if Too Tan Tommy autographs the sucker. Would make a sweet beach towel.

Let's bid him up. YUUUUUUP

MU always throws on the $19.95 shipping charge.. wtf.  Highest shipping charges of all the schools that sell on there... wonder what the story is.  They need to lower that NOW.

So the signs are coming down...is this more evidence of Hiroshima/Mayan 2012?

How soon after Crean left did they take that thing down? What an embarrassment!

I was already dying at the thought that this banner is being auctioned off and the contents of this thread.  I was not expecting that.  This is just too much.

"Idaho St. 59-56 (OT)" is the last f***ing thing that should ever appear on a banner. Christ.

No, they are just making room for the 2011 and 2012 sweet sixteen banners.

Is a sweet sixteen banner a proper celebration or an embarrassing revelation that a school does not know how to act like a big time program?  Discuss.

Regional Appearances are completely acceptable.

Sorry but I don't know why it was up there in the first place. I'd rather see banners for NCAA or NIT appearances and NCAA Championship(s) and Final Fours. It's nice that we won the Great Alaska Shootout 11 years ago, but not something we want to memorialize forever.

I guess I'm glad it's gone because I think we should set our expectations a lot higher than Anchorage, Alaska.

I think they finally took this down a couple years ago (along with the infamously coveted "1977 2nd Place" banner), but the fact that this hung in the rafters anytime after 1990 is probably just as bad as a GAS banner that hung in the BC for less than a decade.

Stand alone Banner criteria:
Regular season conference championship
Final Four
National Championship

Nothing else qualifies.

Retired numbers are a separate issue.

I think the NCAA tournament apperances banner is exceptionally lame.  At this point, it should no longer be considered to be an achievement to make the NCAA tournament.  I feel it should be considered a disappointment if it does not happen.

Winning two games in the NCAA tournament absolutely does not merit a banner or any sort of special recognition outside of the media guide.

That's a banner for the women's team (1n 73 the men played in the NCAA). Maybe that's the most banner worthy thing they've done in the last 40 years. Honestly don't know.
