So we have some MU connections to watch this summer:
Buycks - Spurs
Crowder - Mavs
DJO - Lakers
Butler - Bulls
Lazar - Thunder
Wes and Scott Christopherson - Trailblazers
Any word about Jerel? DJ?
Tyshawn Taylor playing for Brooklyn if anyone cares.
Tyshawn was a backup plan in case Williams didn't sign, so he will need to play well.
Little bit of research I did on Christopherson says he's going to have a tough time getting minutes for Portland, and that's assuming he even makes it out of the three-day camp in Portland later this week. Guards already planing on playing for the T-Blazers in Vegas include Matthews, Will Barton, Dee Bost, Jon Diebler, Damian Lillard, Nolan Smith and Elliot Williams. Wouldn't be surprised one bit if Christopherson's NBA career last 3 days of practice. But that being said, that's better than I'd have predicted for him 4 years ago at this time.
Wes is playing in the summer league? I find that hard to believe.....how many 3 year NBA vets who are starters play in the summer league?

It's far more common than you may believe.
Actually it's not more common then I think
Take a look at these rosters....Only a handful of 3rd year guys and Wes is the only starter type that I see. Mostly rookies and bench guys who need the game experience to get better.

Seems a couple of the comments on that page are wondering why Wes is playing as well. It's unheard of for someone with his experience and playing time to be playing in the summer league, especially with no contract to play for
This article chalks it up to his work ethic and notes he's said for months he was going to play: http://www.columbian.com/news/2012/jul/06/blazers-set-their-summer-league-roster/
Another article mentioning he's inclusion, saying "it's just how he's wired": http://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/index.ssf/2012/07/blazers_summe_league_roster_includes_damian_lillar.html
A more lengthy article about it from back in April. Based on their recollection, Wes is the most experienced player to play since Amare Stoudemire (5th season), who played after missing almost the entire previous season with an injury.

Continues to amaze with his work ethic. Hope our current players take notice, that that's what it takes. For Wes, just hoping he's taken some time the past couple months to rest and heal up from the long list of ailments he picks up throughout the season.

Read your post & no others - thought you were talking about NCAA certified summer leagues. My fault. I'm going to tell the dominatrix to scold me extra hard Tuesday evening.

DJ is actually in Indy. He's staying the same apartment complex I live in. Talked to him briefly a few weeks back, said he just got back from Europe. Didn't ask him about his future though...
Christopherson ended up making Portland's roster. Lots of guards ...
http://www.blazersedge.com/2012/7/5/3140599/2012-portland-trail-blazers-las-vegas-summer-league-roster
And DJO's Lakers got killed by Klay Thompson and Barnes.

Sunday: Denver vs Dallas. Faried vs Crowder. Manimal vs Manimal!
5 pm CST nbatv
watched 4th quarter of Lakers /Sacramento DJO finished with 9 pts,7 rebounds and 2 assists
had a nice step back goal but got picked both times he tried to drive
The announcers were talking a lot about Wes in the couple minutes of the Portland game I was watching. They said his main role at the summer leagues is to mentor the young guys and be an example of what a professional is. They said there aren't many guys who would gladly accept such a role, but that Wes Matthews is the kind of guy to do just that. He knows what it takes to go from a borderliner to a starter and he's mature enough to pass that on to his young teammates. I'm really impressed by Wes' leadership role on the Blazers. He even represented the team during the lottery drawing. All the other teams had owners and such as their reps, Wes was the only player which I thought was interesting and cool.
Jae and the Mavs won today vs TOR, Jae started, played 30 mins, scored 15, grabbed 4 boards, shot 5-12, 2-4 3P, 3-6 FT.
Just tuned into DJO's game. Lakers down by only 22 at the end of the first half.
Now down by 38 in the third quarter.
I have watched the Lakers twice. First they got blown out by 40 by Golden State and tonight I turned it off when down by 40. Has to be the worst team in summer league history. Darius Morris and Gouldlock are just plain "chuckers" and the rest are ball hogs. DJO looks lost playing with such a team and sort of feel for him.
Lakers lose by 50.
DJO shoots 2 for 6 for 5pts and 5 turnovers.
Morris was 4 for 17
Goudelock was 2 for 10
Eyenga was 3 for 12
Just horrible basketball.
Effin ugly. Coyote ugly. 2 bag ugly. Shave you dog's a$$ and teach it to walk backwards ugly. Uglier than the worse "your momma's so ugly" ugly. Uglier than having to give Majerus his prostate exam ugly.
Hungry anyone?
Hopefully DJO can prove his usefulness and give that team some leadership a la Butler at the Portsmouth 2 years back.
Jimmy Butler drops 25 pts, 7 boards, and 3 assists in his summer league debut. The Bulls will be relying on him to produce once Luol has surgery, especially given Korver's departure and the team's decision to not pick up Ronnie Brewer's option.

Looks like the ideal situation for Jimmy.
Nice article on Jimmy on Bulls.com and the opportunity that awaits him.

What I loved most was that Butler was 10-12 from the line. Celtics made 13 as a team.
Christopherson and Matthews were DNPs.
Buycks got scant minutes (9) as did DJO (13) yesterday as Spurs defeated Lakers.
Milwaukee native Diante Garrett played with Christopherson at ISU and is playing for Phoenix.
Announcers were enamored with Crowder in his game yesterday, camera was on him half the game. They couldn't stop taking about his various abilities and being able to guard guards or bang in the post. GM Donnie Nelson added that he loves his attitude. Jae should have success with Dallas and have a long career.
DJO played only about 4 minutes tonight, not sure if he was taken out because of injury or not.
Here's an awesome putback by Crowder.

Great alley-oop from Jones to Crowder on the side. Jae's athleticism seems to have increased.

I agree, that putback dunk was something I've never seen from him before.

I don't think his athleticism has necessarily increased, but the NBA game, especially summer league, is more open. Look at the spacing compared to college. It gives him a little more opportunity to give a little showtime. If you notice on both his dunks, he isn't exactly skying over the rim, rather he just had great timing.
Christopherson started and scored 5 today.
Jimmy had 23 pts to lead the Bulls to a 77-74 win over the clippers. Made 6-10 FG, 1-1 on 3P and 10-10 on FT's.
