Doc for the win over #5 ND...precious....and a classic.
The MU AD team is doing a great job this summer on the social media front.

Was a classic and great party day.
Highlight of my basketball viewing as a student. Out cold by 8PM that night. My seats that day were about the same as the camera angle.
SWEET. Any day beating Laimbeer and Horseface (Tripucka) was a great day.

Speaking of horseface, ;D, (I haven't heard that reference in 20+ years) in 1981 when we kicked the livin' snot out of Digger's team in SB, we roamed the south quad after the game. For about a half an hour, we taunted Tripuka with chants of "hey horse face"' with no response....from anyone. What bunch of _____. Fill in the blank.

Is there video of The Shot anywhere on the internet? We haven't been able to find one.

It was on the blog, but they archived it because it's now July.

A friend of my wife was an ND student. She says that she and her friends would make horse clopping sounds when he was around.
So awesome. I didn't know any video existed. Probably the highlight basketball moment of my college years. If memory serves, it was a afternoon game.
It was an afternoon game. Right before winter break ended. I'm came back from CT early so I wouldn't miss it.

Yes, it was a Saturday afternoon. MU played mostly at 8:00 on Saturday those days, so it must have been a national TV broadcast. Though, I don't know cuz I was there at the Arena.... :)
Wonder how many times Austin has been forced to watch. 'Hey kid, watch this!'
I watched it on Channel 18 on the only television in my house that could get it over the air from Madison...black and white and a little snowy.

Confused Sultan. You were in Madison watching 18 originating from MKE? Was that pre or post college?
Can someone tell me why this shot is not famous?
A guy who is the best NBA coach hits a one handed shot in college from 1/4 court and beats their biggest rivals but I have never heard of it?

I could get a snowy Channel 18 on a black and white from the upstairs of my parents house in Madison. When the weather was right it was pretty clear. On the same TV I could get television stations from Rockford that looked almost local they were so clear. Only UHF...not VHF.

Thank god for tinfoil!
So, how would Scoopers rank the top game winners? Home vs. road?

Probably not as famous as other MU moments because in the end it was an exciting but meaningless victory in an otherwise forgettable season. We were first round NIT losers that season after 10 consecutive NCAA appearances. We had actually
earned 13 straight NCAAs before 1981 but Al turned down the NCAA invitation in 1970.
I also think that most people would say Popovich is the best NBA coach now that Phil Jackson has retired, though Doc has come into his own and is very good.
