Was getting worried, but there he goes! Congrats, DJO!!! Two guys in one year, and well-deserved for both!
Awesome. DJO. Crowder. Cuban.
Now...make the team boys!!! Mavericks and Portland my favorite teams!!
AWESOME!!! Hope he makes the squad with all of those picks Dallas has! Dallas loves MU!

Awesome to match up with Jae
Two guys to the same team. Maybe Buzz has some fans down there.

Traded to lakers
Darius Johnson-Odom selected by Lakers
Written by: Andrei Greska
With the 55th pick of the 2012 NBA draft, the Los Angeles Lakers (via trade with Dallas) selected guard Darius Johnson-Odom, making him 34th Marquette player to join the exclusive NBA pro ranks. Johnson-Odom joined Marquette after a one year stint ... Continue reading → (http://painttouches.com/2012/06/28/darius-johnson-odom-selected-by-lakers/)

That's where ESPN had him projected! Will wonders ever cease? Go Marquette!

Traded to lakers
Probably a better situation for him to make the team with that being the Lakers' only pick.
Can we convince him to wear #7? Probably some old Lamar Odom Lakers jerseys on clearance that could be picked up!
can't wait for my new Laker jersey
DJO will join Crowder in Dallas

sports-writing robot must have missed the update. Time for a reboot.
Not a bad landing spot for DJO. Gets to play for a glamour team and live in SoCal. Not too bad at all.
DJO is drafted 55th
Former Marquette guard Darius Johnson-Odom was selected 55th overall in the National Basketball Association draft by the Dallas Mavericks.

MUEng92, if you feel bad about Dallas, this is AWFUL! I absolutely loathe the Lakers. It's too bad things like this happen. Good for DJO, though. Glad he made it but purple and gold is hard to take.
Following in Tony Smith's footsteps.
Love it ;D
And Butch Lee and Jim Chones footsteps!!
Sorry, which is it for DJO? I keep reading conflicting things. He was drafted by the Mavs, but dealt to the Lakers? Or the other way around?

Lakers sent $500,000 to Dallas for DJO. So you have it right.
Also interesting that they paid that much for a very late pick. I wonder if that bodes well for DJ's chances of making the team.
The lakers need a guard who can play D, they were ridiculously un-athletic last year, sounds like a great fit, any scoring would just be a bonus. Kobe wont let him shoot anyway ;)

Never thought of this as a comparison for DJO - DJO certainly is more athletic, bouncy - but in terms of strength, size, and good left outside shooter: Derek Fischer? Obviously the Lakers had a long run of success with D-Fish - a high character guy - who was undersized, not exactly a point guard, but just makes winning plays/shots...
A smaller Shannon Brown?
never thought about that either but D Fish is a great comparisen. Really solid strong lefties... huh
not brown, he is a freak with a huge wingspan, I think he was a forward at Michigan st

There is a little value add to a lefty as well. Can't recall where I read that, but I do know Buzz (and his infinite study of statistics), has signed a much higher rate of lefty players than what the general population percentage is. DJO, TJ Taylor, Deonte Burton, Maymon..

Pretty sure Brett "The Beast" Roseboro was a lefty too

I would advise against comparing DJO to a guy that can barely hang on an NBA roster.

??? Brown has also made $10 million over six years and had the best year of his career this year. If DJO can follow the same trajectory I'm sure he'd be a happy camper. Novak has made under $5 in the same amount of time. He was struggling to make rosters himself. Sometimes all you have to do is hang on and find a good fit, like Wesley with the Jazz & Blazers.
Until DJO makes a roster and starts playing in NBA games, I'm not going to compare him to anyone. And regardless of money, would I want Shannon Brown on my NBA team? No.
Not gonna lie I jumped in joy when DJ got drafted by Dallas and it looked like he and Crowder would be teammates again. Then went to bed and was a bit disappointed to see that DJ was traded to LA this morning. Good news is they are both on playoff teams. All 7 MU players in the NBA are on 7 different playoff teams as of right now thats pretty crazy.

I couldn't figure why Dallas would get both of them when they'll likely end up playing the same or similar position. With the trade, all is revealed.
