Written by: Mark Strotman
Former Marquette forward Jamail Jones will transfer to Florida Gulf Coast, per a source. He will sit out the 2012-'13 season per NCAA rules, and will be eligible for the 2013-'14 season. He will have two years of eligibility. The ... Continue reading → (http://painttouches.com/2012/06/09/jamail-jones-to-transfer-to-florida-gulf-coast/)

My son looked at playing soccer there. Basically they've built a beach onto campus, and you are near the real beach. The setting is more like a resort than a college campus. He will love it there if he can focus on his basketball amid the distractions, so best of luck.
I can't believe he didn't get better offers than that. He must miss home. Or wants to be "the guy".
Good Luck, young man.

Or he's just not that good.
Best wishes Mellow. Hope it all works out for you.

I agree with this. For the #52 ranked high school senior, seems like he wanted to be close to home and not be at end of bench somewhere.
He was a great cheerleader on the MU bench and wish him well.
man, after watching his h.s highlight reels, i thought he was a can't miss stud. good luck j-man
Interesting. I sure thought he could have gone to a quality mid-major or a lower level major and be a solid contributor. Wish him nothing but the best. He was one of my favorites, even though he didn't get much PT. Best of luck, Jamail.

Bingo, he's not a high major guy.
They are putting a ton of resources into that school and program, and on value add I have the 131st for next year with all sophomores and juniors starting. With their progression and Jamall, that could be an nit team in his first year on the court, so that may not be a bad choice. The 4 other strong players they will have that year are 6-1, 6-3, 6-7 and 6-9, so he might just beba perfect fit on an up and coming program.
Great scoop, Mark. Good work.
Will FGCU be on our schedule in the near future?
I don't want to be Uthoff'd.
I have a co-worker that attended there. She supposedly is 1 semester shy of graduating after spending 6 years there and just decided to come back home to Connecticut.

I want to go there for vacation.

Zoom out, and you'll understand why you wouldn't want to go there for vacation. However, just 10 miles west and over a causeway is a more serviceable vacation destination.
There's gotta be gators in that there lake..er...pond.
