Title: An MU Alum will win a NBA ring this year
Post by: Tugg Speedman on June 07, 2012, 10:26:12 AM
Lazar on OKC
Wade on Miami
Doc Rivers on Boston

One of them will wins a ring later this month!

MU is the only school that can make this claim!!

I was just thinking about this.  Made me wonder, who are people rooting for from a MU perspective?

I would love to see D-Wade go on a tear and win it for Miami.  Otherwise, probably Doc since it would be quite an accomplishment to win a title with an aging team that was below .500 at the All-Star break.

I'm rooting for Lazar. But it's as much not liking the Heat or Celtics as anything, though 8 do respect the hell out of KD.

Averaging 3.5 MPG in the postseason.

I root for whatever will help MU the most, and that's DWade racking up as many championships as possible, ideally winning Finals MVP's in dramatic and dominating fashion.  Having a Jordan-esque alum would be like throwing gasoline on the recruiting fire Buzz has already started.  All else is trivial unless you're a hard core fan of one of the teams remaining.

I'm OKC all the way. Absolutely love the games of Durant and Harden. Just fun to watch and classy as hell.

If Dwade is the finals MVP, Ill take the Heat winning as well.

Is that from the two times he played in first round blowouts?

DWade.

There's so much hate for the big 3 and the Heat that I'm rooting for them to win a championship and continue pouring gas on the fire.  It's funny listening to people rage about professional athletes :)

I'm rooting for OKC to win it, just because I like the way they play.  But Lazar will be about 0.03% more responsible for them winning a championship than I am.  It's funny, because Wade and Kobe's dismissal of Shaq made this life-long Lakers fan a Heat fan (the only time in my 50 years that I changed loyalty to a team.  I figure to go back to rooting for the Lakers when Kobe retires).  Plus I rooted for Lebron in Cleveland.  But that vulgar display after signing James and Bosh turned me off completely to the Heat (I have officially entered crotchety-old man territory).  I never thought I'd root for the Celtics against anyone ever, but I'm rooting for them now.

What do you expect from a pep rally for fans?  A bunch of guys eating humble pie?  I just don't get the outrage over that event. And to anybody that says that DWade and Lebron are always whining to the refs, watch KG and Pierce.

The idea of a celebration like that when they hadn't done anything just rubs me the wrong way.  Win something first, then celebrate.  That was way more annoying to me than even the decision debacle with Jim Gray, and that was plenty annoying as it was a real, albeit unintentional, middle finger to Cleveland.

It's similar to Marquette Madness, though.  Get the fans involved and energized while meeting the new players :)

I don't want to see the heat win it because of the obnoxious Lebron fans that think he is a better player then MJ already when he hasn't come close to accomplishing what MJ did. After every game all they say is "Witness" or "Where are the haters now". Last night was especially ridiculous because he had a good night  but there is still a game 7 and they acted like he finally won a championship, I can't even imagine what their reaction is going to be when he finally does win one (which will happen eventually). I know a number of "heat fans" that will honestly debate that Mario Chalmers is the best PG in the league, I'm not kidding. And if you haven't experienced an obnoxious Lebron fan count yourself lucky they're about as bad as badger fans.

Here's to Durant and the Thunder starting a dynasty....

+1.  I'd like to see them win it just to stick it to the haters.  James was incredible last night.  That was an out of the world historic performance.

The celebration complaints seem wildly overblown.  It was a marketing thing to sell tickets, introduce the players to the fans and get their city and their fans excited.   If Wade or Lebron had signed in Chicago I'm sure they would have some kind of celebration to introduce them to the team.  Sometimes when big free agents sign with teams they have pep rallies for their fans.  I recall earlier this year in baseball it happened (it was either Fielder in Detroit or Pujols in Los Angeles).

So then the obnoxious Durant fans can say he is better than Jordan?   ;D   Who cares.

Two options:

Heat Loses: We get more questioning of Lebron, his heart, his instinct.  Karl Malone comparisons start.  People star refusing to vote for him for MVP.  Steven A. Smith yells "It hurts me to say this about my close personal friend Lebron" a dozen times. We get articles about 'Why doesn't Riley get more blame?" We get to read 'Trade Bosh' rumors.  Spolstra gets axed followed by the return of riley rumors followed phil jackson rumors followed by 'will phil jackson and pat riley make up' questions.  We get 'is this an OKC dynasty in the making' stories.  Can wade and lebron coexist.  Did lebron Play bad because someone slept with his mom?

Heat win:  Lebron, is he greatest of all time? & The Heat, how many of the next 7 titles will they win? (written 1000 times with very slight variances)

The former just sounds like a more interesting summer to me.
