From the Fox article...
Crean will bring in a couple of freshman power forwards in Damian Saunders and Patrick Hazel, who could help along the frontline.
Key Addition: Damian Saunders uummmhhhh... how about Trevor?!?!

He still might not qualify.

do you have a source or just speculation?
Hmmmmm....Maybe Crean had the sneaky suspicion Trevor wouldn't and therefor recruited Saunders?
But that's all just CONJECTURE...
I must say, though many know I don't think highly of DJ, it has tremendously boosted MU's rankings and that's great for recruiting...esp., his replacement! ;)
Here's a Mbakwe thread from the Minnesota High School scout forum. (http://minnesotapreps.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=553&tid=95360633&mid=95360633&sid=921&style=2) No real news, but the fact that there continues to be speculation is concerning.
In January, from the Minneapolis Star Tribune:
"St. Bernard's forward Trevor Mbakwe turned in an impressive performance Saturday in the opening game of the Minnesota/Wisconsin Border Battle at Tartan High School, with 28 points in a 73-64 victory over Randolph (Wis.). He is averaging 22 points per game and recently qualified academically to play for Marquette."
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this refers to his ACT results, yes? If so, then the remaining issue would be grades. How can we not know that yet? His high school graduation was on the 4th of June. It's now the 19th. If he qualified, shouldn't he be in summer school at MU?
CBS Sportsline's poll is out now, too....MU #10 also. Big East LOADED

Saunders as a key addition for the 07-08 season? pure fiction.
Hope to see MU in the top 10 at the end of the season as well---preseason is meaningless----all too often we're ranked higher preseason than at year's end!

As is the case with many teams in the preseason....a majority of them I would add. Just look at last year's top 25 before the season started and how many didn't even make the NIT, let alone the NCAA.
valid point, Chicos. I hate the preseason 'too high ranking' in that it causes a depressed spirit on the team when the rank adjusts, but the recognition is terrific! I hope we can earn a similar ranking at season's end.
augoman: exactly. love the recognition. hate the target on our backs.
The one thing DJ brought back with him is name recognition which leads to tons of early press. Not all a bad thing.
I just want this team to be in a competitive game on Sat or Sun of the 1st weekend.
I took the ACT June 9th and scores are available for everything but writing. Of course it costs 8.00 to get it now
