Wow, that's a big fall from grace for Jordan Taylor.  His senior year wasn't that bad, was it?

Preseason All-American to irrelevant in less than a year.

Feeling the schadenfreude today.

Bet he's glad he stuck around for his senior year.

DJO is on the list too ... how about a little love for him too!

I said last year that he'd regret not declaring. I don't think he'd have been a high pick, but I could have seen him going second round. Not having Leuer and Nankivil as outlets really exposed the holes in his game when projecting him as a professional player. I'm sure he'll end up getting work overseas or in the D-League, but staying at Wisconsin 4 years was definitely a mistake for JT.

Being a 2nd rounder doesn't guarantee anything. He liked college, made it to another sweet 16 and got his degree.

If he would have been a guaranteed first rounder then it was mistake but that wasn't the case.

If he was my son I would have been fine with his decision.

Not true. It guarantees you a shot. When you think about all the guys that come out in a given year, there are a lot more players on NBA rosters that were 2nd round draft picks than there are guys that went undrafted. Yet there are a lot more guys that went undrafted than there are 2nd round draft picks. Here at Marquette, we like to tout the undrafted option because of Wesley Matthews, but in reality, that's as sensible as touting the genie option because we saw Aladdin. Matthews may have been the diamond in the rough, but he was also the 1 in 10,000 shot of undrafted college player that becomes highly-paid NBA starter. Not all undrafted guys get that chance, 99% of them will never even sniff a NBA tryout.

And if the Aladdin reference seems too tongue-in-cheek, feel free to use touting the college dropout to billionaire route because we like Bill Gates, touting going on welfare for success because of JK Rowling, or endorsing playing the lottery because your neighbor won a $20 million jackpot.

Last year would have been the year to declare, because several really good players fearing a lockout stayed one more year in college.

He will get a shot this year. He wasn't an NBA player last year and he still isn't one.

For all we know he was told he probably wouldn't be drafted last year either.

He could have improved his stock by coming back.....just because he didn't doesn't mean it was the wrong decision.

Getting a college degree when you aren't sure you will be drafted is not a bad move.

I believe Jordan Taylor was one of the top college players the last two years, but I don't believe he would have made the NBA last year or this.  He just can't do some of the things you need to be able to do to make the jump.

Jerel McNeal is one of the greatest college players to play here, and didn't fit a spot in the NBA, and even Butch Lee - our only Player of the Year - last ed just over one season before being released.  Taylor was a great, great college player who we should take pride in crushing this season in Madison, but he clearly did not have an NBA skill set. I am happy to have recruits continue to see that Marquette is a much better path to the NBA than Wisconsin, but I won't kick Taylor while he is down despite his less than complementary tweet after we beat him this year.

Congrats to DJO and Crowder though - I know there are more Europeans drafted than are invited to the combine, but I do always believe the combine is the first time we get a clearer picture of where the NBA execs are because they are very careful on tipping off the public draft boards.

60 invites and 60 spots to be picked - good luck in a great showing DJO and Jae!

But he did get a ring, I believe.

I ran across this write up of DJO... It's pretty in depth.  It's looking good to be drafted in early 2nd round according to this article.

I've said before I think DJO is a much better NBA prospect than Crowder.

"Leave the nicknames to us, DJO and Homer, whoever you are."

Writer sounds like a bit of a d-bag to me.

It looks like ESPN will be showing the NBA combine this year if I read the Twitter Tracker right.

From what I saw it should be on ESPNU on the 6th and 7th (next week).
