I think the story says volumes about the current coaching situation in Miami, but I'm sure Crean is going to take the spotlight: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2012/05/miami-heats-dwayne-wade-pays-visit-to-indianas-tom-crean/1
Crean to Miami, Buzz to Indiana.

Crean to Miami.
If the Heat dont win the title, I wouldn't be shocked at all if this happened. I dunno if Crean would want to make the jump with the team he has coming to Bloomington next year.

You don't think he'd leave a good college recruiting class to coach two of the best players on the planet in the NBA and have his salary increased three-fold?
TC would jump on Miami job in a heartbeat. Honestly I would not blame him. He has always wanted to be NBA coach and coaching the Heat would be a great place to do it.
Walking skin cancer in Miami.

It'd be an interesting decision. On one hand, you get to coach two of the best players in the NBA, including one that many consider to be an all-time great, even without any rings, and one you are already familiar with. It sounds like a dream scenario. On the other hand, one of the big three will probably be traded to try to coddle together a team rather than just a trio of stars and a collection of cast-offs, and if you can't win a title with Wade and LBJ, you look like an idiot (like Spoelstra, even if it isn't really fair to him).
I think TC is far better suited for the NCAA realm, especially somewhere like Indiana, where the recruits are obvious. He seems to be that "good in the living room" sort that can land just about any player, as long as the reputation of the team behind him is sufficient. Not sure he's really a great talent evaluator (other than stars, he struck out a lot) but at somewhere like Indiana, the talent comes to you. The NBA question is how good a game coach and ego manager you are. TC can run an offense, but never struck me as a particularly bright defensive mind, and he's such a self-promoter that he might not thrive in an environment where his ego isn't even one of the five biggest in the room.
Were I Crean, I'd pass. IU fits him perfectly. But it'd definitely be a tough one to say no to.

And he wouldn't be shelling out a hundred large a year at the tanning salons.
D Wade would be wise to go to Steve Novak for shooting tips.
well who do you think taught Novak his stroke??!!
his father. Crean taught Dominic James.
TC was actually a very good shooter in his own right. He just didn't have the height that Novak does.

TC has too much ego and not enough accomplishments to be an NBA coach...unless Wade and, to some extent LeBron, go to Riley and say that he's their guy (and mention to Riles that Crean named his kid after him ;) ).
I don't feel like the Heat players respect Spoelstra. When a guy like Riley or Popovich or Phil Jackson shows players his ring collection and says, "This is how we do things," the players are more likely to listen, most importantly the stars are more likely to buy in. When a no-name assistant works his way up to the head coaching position, it's a nice story but it doesn't really resonate with superstars. If a college coach comes in, puffs his chest and tries to lay the hammer down, it's typically not going to be well received. IMO, that's a big reason why so many college coaches flounder in the NBA. To a 19-year-old kid, Pitino, Calipari, etc are big deals. To an NBA star, he's just some coach who wasn't good enough to coach in the NBA and had to settle for coaching in college, only the coach still thinks he's far and away the most important person associated with the team.
That said, it would be interesting to see how Crean would play in Miami when one of the team's stars is already in his corner. Then again, if it crashes and burns that'd be two bad moves by GM Dwyane Wade.
BTW, why is Miami not mentioned as a potential landing spot for Phil Jackson?

Do you think the Heat would enjoy seeing an Eastern Conference Finalist trophy case?

I was trying to riff off those Tom Crean pre-game Bradley Center videos.

Yet Novak swears by Crean (video). There is more to playing for a coach then shooting, or driving, or dribbling.

Or maybe that ball return system that his dad built and had patented which Marquette has several of.
