Written by: Mark Strotman
Marquette received a verbal commitment today from Arizona State transfer Trent Lockett, a 6-foot-4 guard with one year of eligibility remaining. Lockett tweeted this morning, "I've been a sundevil since 16. I love and appreciate the people and experience at ... Nice article. So much better than the JS/Endlund.
Good point in regard to balancing the classes with Trent and holding one schollie till next year, Mark, any indication that Buzz may grant Jake one more year on a free ride?
What is also interesting in a backwards twist way, is that JWilson, Jake and Otule should be done with their undergrad coursework at the end of next season and would then be eligible to transfer without penalty.
I doubt Jamil or Chris would do that, but that may be an option for Jake.

I think you're off on all three of them. Not going to get into the details of the Bylaws, but the issue for Jamil & Jake are that they have already transferred from another NCAA school.
For Otule, he would be seeking a Five-Year Rule Waiver and that would be the issue that keeps him from playing elsewhere. The institution applies for this and a new school would have no argument for a sixth year to be granted so that the student-athlete could compete at the new school.

Makes sense. Thanks for the analysis.
Thanks Jay Bee. You da man on these issues
Just a mini-poll here of sorts: What do you all think Marquette's best back court combination is?
I think we should wait to ask that question until about a week after the semester. Hopefully that won't change any guesses, but the rumors here make it seem like it might.

Tough call...what I'd like to see and what might be best are 2 different things..
What I like:
Vander at the 1, Mayo at the 2, Lockett at the 3
What I feel is best:
Junior at the 1, Mayo at the 2, Lockett at the 3
