So, you have a weakness for MUScoop members with great abs, and you're tricking us into reading how to get tighter tummies?

A nice quote re Jae.

"Crowder is the kind of player you want doing a little bit of everything for you. As for his below average ball-handling and difficulty in isolation settings, I have a simple solution: don't make him your point guard and don't run isolation sets for him! To build on the ball-handling criticism, I can't see how you can be concerned about a guy who turns the ball over 1.60 times per 40 minutes and only 7.1 times for every 100 possessions he uses (for those of you who don't pay attention to turnover numbers, Crowder is really good at not turning the ball over)!"

Great find, thanks morecowbell.

Hell, I wouldn't hesitate to take him early in the lottery.

That's a push.

But I feel he'll definitely be a mid-late 2nd.

NBA teams are pretty much done looking for foreign player "reachs" in the 2nd round.
Looking at the capable "right now" player is more valuable to them; they can get another one the following years at a cheap 2nd round cost.

It also helps Jae to have, not only the season he had, but MU's track record of producing capable forwards/guards in the late 1st/2nd rounds: Butler, Hayward, Matthews, Novak.

In fact, no Marquette draftee was cut before their first year in the NBA ended since...Michael Wilson (waived on October 22, 1982)?

Wow, that was such a good write-up I find it hard to believe it wasn't done by one of the Cracked Sidewalks guys.  If Jae slips past the 1st round the team that drafts him is getting an absolute steal.  Thanks for the link.

Hopefully he gets an invite to the combine to show off (prove) his athleticism.  Seniors tend to do well as they have prepped the drills longer than the 1st or 2nd year guys....EVEN Novak put up WAY better numbers than expected.  Of course,  teams drill guys individually,  but it's good to get those numbers out there in order to make the interested teams antsy about their "secret" sleeper.

LOL, even my Cracked Sidewalks colleagues may not want to quite be lumped in with my Crowder-worship the last two years.  However, I am glad to finally find someone who actually thinks even higher of Crowder than I do, as even I haven't ever closed a post by saying, "Hell, I wouldn't hesitate to take him early in the lottery."

You had more guts when you were at Marquette games in the womb.

Maybe I worded it wrong, but I meant well-written as a compliment.  Apologies if it came off any different.  I meant that they broke his game down well, highlighted his versatility, and emphasized the value he brings to a team.  Wasn't trying to say you guys are slanted, gushing, and incapable of providing reasoned analysis.  Quite the opposite is true, and I really like the work you and the others do over there.  Any praise Jae gets, even praise as high as this writer gives, is well-earned and well-deserved after this year.  He was our best player since Wade, and I think he'll have a long and successful NBA career.  He'll figure out exactly what he needs to do to help a team win, and that won't go unnoticed by smart organizations.
